Quantifying Uncertainty In Reliability Block Diagrams, Bea Yu
Mathematics & Statistics ETDs
Reliability analysis yields statistically derived technical system performance estimates. Traditional reliability analysis employs classical statistical techniques predicated upon asymptotic properties of large data sets. Not uncommonly, however, medium to small data sets constrain analysis efforts for high risk systems characterized by significant danger or cost. This paper outlines a general reliability analysis paradigm to contend with small to medium data sets. Preliminary sensitivity analysis using scatter plots and tests for non-randomness reveals component-level drivers in system-level performance measures. Comprehensive data collection efforts targeting all available, high-quality information sources decrease and allow analysts to estimate uncertainty in model parameters describing driving …

Identification Of Man-Made Hazards In Aneth Chapter, Navajo Nation, Utah, Eugenia L. Quintana
Identification Of Man-Made Hazards In Aneth Chapter, Navajo Nation, Utah, Eugenia L. Quintana
Architecture and Planning ETDs
Identification of man-made hazards is an initial step in planning recommendations for mitigation of man-made hazards. This project entailed a participatory process that engaged the local community in identifying man-made hazards specific to Aneth. The man-made hazards have challenged the community in managing potential damages, physical, environmental and economic losses due to pollution and contamination from man-made hazards. The development of this professional project has revealed some pathways to environmental protection for the Aneth Chapter, which could be the first Navajo Nation Chapter to move towards the development of a plan for mitigation of man-made hazards based upon the identification …

UNM Annual Reports

Many of the goals have been completed, some are in progress to be completed by the beginning of this fall, and some have been quite challenging to meet. Attached please find our detailed Work Plan that identifies each goal and below is a summary of some of our initiatives. The move to the SSSC building provided us a venue to harmonize our back office operations and it allowed enrollment management staff to move out of working in silos and instead commence with the process of cross-training …

Chical Area On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Management Pueble Of Isleta, New Mexico, Blane M. Sanchez
Water Resources Professional Project Reports
On-site wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) have been utilized to provide treatment and disposal for the Chical Area of the Pueblo of Isleta for over 30 years. The OWTS technology used here primarily consists of septic tanks and absorption fields. The groundwater below the Chical Area is a highly valued resource by the Isleta Pueblo, but the hydrogeology makes it vulnerable to contamination from OWTS. Most of these systems have been installed with the assistance from the Indian Health Service. However, Isleta has not developed a plan or management program to ensure that these OWTS are properly sited, constructed, operated or …
