This final report is presented in two parts. Part 1 is the description and results of the IHS HP/DP Adolescent Health Centers Grant Program review. Part 2 is the description of AI/AN adolescent health care in the IHS. Results The purpose of these grant demonstration projects was to address the specific health problems of AI/AN adolescents and emphasize health promotion and disease prevention with cultural relevance and sensitivity.

This Roundtable on Health Care Reform was the second Indian Health Service (IHS)-sponsored Roundtable on the topic of Health Care Reform and its impact on Indian health. The process evaluation of the National Model Adolescent Suicide Prevention Project has two central purposes; 1) to document and describe the processes by which the project was implemented and operated; and 2) to identify the methods used to implement the project that seem to be most effective for prevention and that have the greatest impact on measure of outcome.Since the implementation of the project, suicide rates have in fact declined for all age groups in the Jicarilla Apache community.

Mascaras, Trenzas, Y Grenas: Un/Masking The Self While Un/Braiding Latina Stories With Legal Discourse, Margaret E. Montoya

This article uses Critical Race Theory methodologies, such as autobiographical narratives, and analytical approaches, such as critical pedagogy. Using personal narrative, this Article examines the various masks ("mascaras") used to control how people respond to us and the important role such masks play in the subordination of Outsiders. The first part of the Article tells stories; the second part of the Article unbraids the stories to reveal an imbedded message: that Outsider storytelling is a discursive technique for resisting cultural and linguistic domination through personal and collective redefinition.
