One of the most intriguing aspects of bilingual speakers and signers is their ability to access both languages simultaneously. Though much research has been dedicated to understanding how two languages interact, or co-activate, within proficient bilinguals, less is understood about how and when novice and intermediate learners develop similar cross-language interactions. Thus, the current study aimed to uncover at what stages during novice and intermediate L2 development co-activation can be detected. It also investigated possible mechanisms behind co-activation. Despite the importance of chile to New Mexico, the future of the chile industry in the state is uncertain. Since the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, chile producers in New Mexico have struggled to compete in a globalized marketplace. Additionally, predicted environmental problems, like impending water shortages and climate change, cast further doubt about the industry’s future. Automated approaches for parameter and algorithm selection greatly democratize fields such as machine learning, saving time and money as hiring experts can be prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately, anomaly detection is difficult to automate due to subjectivity and class imbalance. An anomaly detection system is presented that incorporates human-in-the-loop techniques and is dynamic, scalable, and able to work with non-annotated data. By focusing on meta-features of the input data, the system can intelligently choose the most promising anomaly detection methods. The system is agnostic to the medium of data; it only expects the data to be sequential in nature.

The Changing and Transitioning Name Narrative project is a replicated study from the Name Narrative Project (2014) by Montoya, Vasquez, and Martínez. The changing and/or transitioning of names relates to a Decolonial Embodiment Process (DE.E.P.) that speaks to an internal process of how individuals break away from colonial powers. Furthermore, the study highlights nine (eight volunteers and the author’s) Name Narratives to investigate their realities that express an individual experience and shared standpoints. Disparities in sleep health are important but underrecognized contributors to health disparities. Understanding the factors contributing to sleep heath disparities and developing effective interventions are critical to improving all aspects of heath. Sleep heath disparities are impacted by socioeconomic status, racism, discrimination, neighborhood segregation, geography, social patterns, and access to health care as well as by cultural beliefs, necessitating a cultural appropriateness component in any intervention devised for reducing sleep health disparities. Pediatric sleep disparities require innovative and urgent intervention to establish a foundation of lifelong healthy sleep. Considering the consistent healthcare system load demands, nursing shortages persist, especially in remote areas of the United States. It is vital that students interested in attending nursing school and working in their home communities have expanded nursing program access and supports in order to supply the necessary nursing workforce in remote areas. Lack of diversity in the nursing profession weakens healthcare delivery. Native Americans are underrepresented as nursing students and employed nurses. Measures to provide a more diverse workforce should concentrate on recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of underrepresented minority nursing students.
