SNAP-Ed NM works to provide nutrition and physical activity education, environmental and systems changes, and social marketing among primarily SNAP-eligible populations to empower them to make healthy food choices and become more physically active. In May 2025, the SNAP-Ed evaluation team from the UNM Prevention Research Center (PRC) conducted a survey involving five implementing agencies and the state agency overseeing SNAP-Ed. The purpose of this survey was to evaluate engagement with Tribal communities and to assess any changes in engagement since the prior assessment in FY2023. Correcting Class Imbalance Through Synthetic Training Data And 3d Modeling For Carabid Pitfall Trap Sampling, Blair Mirka

Crowdsourced biodiversity data provide an accessible foundation for large-scale ecological monitoring, but class imbalance limits automated species identification, particularly for rare taxa. This research explores the use of synthetic training data generated from 3D models of carabid beetle museum specimens to improve detection and classification performance for underrepresented species in crowdsourced datasets. High-resolution 3D models were created to simulate variation in lighting, orientation, and background. These synthetic images were incorporated into convolutional neural network training datasets at varying synthetic-to-real ratios to assess their impact on classification accuracy. Rural grocery stores are cornerstone institutions that are central to the health and well-being of their communities - not only providing food, but also serving as spaces of economic development, cultural and historic preservation, social connection, and resilience. In response to the loss of many rural stores over recent decades, the ‘Revitalizing Rural Grocery Stores in Northern New Mexico’ handbook brings together community histories, political analysis, and practical strategies to support their protection and resurgence. Faculty Touchpoint Survey 2025: Key Findings And Recommendations, Lisa A. Marchiondo, Naila V. Decruz-Dixon, Julia Fulghum
ADVANCE Reports
A Spring 2025 climate survey finds that UNM faculty remain committed to their teaching, scholarship, and collegial relationships, despite concerns about research funding, academic freedom, and graduate student recruitment and well-being. The survey also found that faculty have higher levels of stress than in a previous ADVANCE survey, worse psychological well-being, more difficulty concentrating, and more concern about tenure and promotion. A set of recommendations for academic leaders are provided.

This presentation, delivered at the Evidence-Based Practice Council Monthly Meeting, guides participants through best practices in selecting target journals, evaluating journal quality, reviewing submission guidelines, and understanding open access publishing options. It introduces the JANE tool for journal recommendations, resources for evaluating journal credibility (Think. Check. Submit., DOAJ, Journal Citation Reports), and institutional open access agreements. Consultation and support services provided by HSLIC librarians are highlighted.

In the context of integrating sports and medicine, the evaluation of collaborative development models in community healthcare and the sports health industry can be analyzed through four aspects: resource integration efficiency, health service coverage, improvement in residents' health levels, and policy support and implementation effectiveness. These indicators help assess the model's effectiveness and promote residents' well-being and industry collaboration. The collaborative development patterns evaluation of community medical and sports health industry based on sports medicine integration is multiple-attribute decision-making (MADM). This paper introduces an innovative control chart customized for the gamma distribution, specifically crafted to handle uncertain conditions through repetitive sampling. The control chart's coefficients, along with the probabilities of remaining in control or detecting a shift, and the average run lengths, were derived by assuming the symmetrical behavior typical of the normal distribution, using the neutrosophic interval method. The performance of this chart was evaluated by assessing average run lengths under various uncertain process conditions. In this article, we study an inventory model for a single perishable item which can contribute to economic growth, organizational benefit as well as individual life. Decision-making in medical diagnosis is often hampered by uncertainties due to incomplete, ambiguous, and evolving information. In reviewing the traditional methods for lung cancer detection, we found that crisp and logic values have more difficulties and challenges. These challenges related to the big data analytics, uncertainty values, and the different circumstances that make it harder for prediction. In this work, we propose a novel approach that use a Neutrosophic Topological Spaces (NTS) for the lung cancer detection in the chest X-ray images.
