Evaluation Of County Public Health Services To Indians., Ac Geiger, Fd. Lambert
Native Health Database Full Text
In light of increases in Indian Health Service (IHS) staffing and other health services, the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board initiated a reassessment of the impact, necessity, and sufficiency of contracting with county Health departments. This study followed five main objectives: 1) to examine carefully the services to Indians being provided by each county health department with whom IHS currently has a valid contract; 2) to describe what may be the strengths and weaknesses in contracting with county health departments; 3) to provide cost-effective information upon which the Portland Area Indian Health Board could jointly base any decisions regarding …

The Senegal Valley Authority: A Unique Experiment In International River Basin Planning, Theodore Parnall, Albert E. Utton
The Senegal Valley Authority: A Unique Experiment In International River Basin Planning, Theodore Parnall, Albert E. Utton
Faculty Scholarship
The OMVS (l'Organisation Pour la Mise en Valeur du Fleuve Senegal) is a unique exception to this assessment. The three West African governments of Mali, Mauretania, and Senegal (the "Member States") are engaged in an experiment in international organization that is not only following the most advanced concepts of integrated river basin development,, but which may also afford a lesson in cooperation on a broad scale. This article is intended as a description of the organizational history and structure of the OMVS and a comparison with those of other international river commissions with similar goals.

Modeling Ephemeral Stream Channel Development In A Semiarid Upland Environment, William Kaufman Hodges
Modeling Ephemeral Stream Channel Development In A Semiarid Upland Environment, William Kaufman Hodges
Geography ETDs
The ephemeral stream channel is a particularly obvious and distinctive hydrologic feature of the American Southwest. This is notably true of northwestern New Mexico and northeastern Arizona where a semiarid upland environment, characterized by relatively flat-lying or gently warped sedimentary rocks, has been subjected to the development of canyons and basins with moderate to deep alluvial fills. This area provides an ideal setting for a geomorphological phenomenon known as "valley trenching."
