Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is working on developing a multi-stream Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) amplifier. One of the first steps to be taken during the design of a TWT amplifier is to design an input coupler to couple power from a lower power High Power Microwave (HPM) seed source to the slow wave structure (SWS) of the amplifier. In order to aid in the development of a TWT which operates in X-band, multiple options for input couplers have been designed for use in a greater TWT project at UNM. The primary tasks to be addressed with these input …

Mg And Fe Co-Doped Perovskites For The Electrochemical Oxidative Coupling Of Methane In Solid Oxide Electrolyzers, Luke H. Denoyer

Chemical and Biological Engineering ETDs

More efficient usage of shale gas reserves and natural gas resources will allow for higher olefin yields and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) is a direct pathway for converting methane to ethylene at temperatures >700 °C. The OCM process is typically regulated via the choice of catalyst, reactor conditions, temperature range and gas mixing. The electrochemical oxidative coupling of methane (E-OCM) is a modification to the OCM reaction by controlling the oxygen content via externally applied potentials to an SOEC. Perovskite oxide catalysts are useful for E-OCM due to their flexible bond networks and desired …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

With rapid advancements in technology-related industries, integrated circuits come to be the core of modern electronics (IC). This in turn highlights the indispensable need to figure out advanced techniques for delivering high-quality experimental education in integrated circuits (IC). To that end, this work presents a neutrosophic framework to enhance the quality of education based on the selection of simulation-based tools that best improve the experimental skills of students. Given the inherent challenges of uncertainty, ambiguity, and subjectivity of virtual simulation, we propose to incorporate Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Sets (IVNS) to model uncertainty inherent to virtual simulation scenarios and adapt to encode …

Quantifying Teaching Quality In University Chemistry Using Bipolar Neutrosophic Decision-Making Framework, Lina Sun, Feng Yi

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

There is no doubt that the teaching of university Chemistry plays a critical role in enriching the students’ knowledge with analytical and problem-solving skills that are necessary for achieving academic and professional progress in many fields. However, the process of evaluating the quality of Chemistry teaching remains a challenging task because it usually relies on subjective judgments, diversity of criteria, and variability in human perception, leading to inherent uncertainty. Bipolar Neutrosophic Sets (NS) provide appropriate representation for uncertainty setting ls with three levels of membership, each with positive and negative degrees. Inspired by that, this study contributes to the body …

Predicting Customer Satisfaction Based On Neutrosophic Sets: Applied On Mobile Food Ordering Application, Walaa Elsanabary, Nouran M. Radwan

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Customers’ satisfaction prediction is a vital process for all business organizations to draw new customers and maintain existing customers. One of the most efficient methods to predict customers' satisfaction is classifying customers' feedback. In the real world, customer’s feedback is ambiguous, confusing and inconsistent. This option can be stated in neutrosophic logic as indeterminacy membership, associated with truth and falsity membership. In this study, a classification model based on neutrosophic sets to handle the inconsistency of customer responses is presented. Also, significant factors that impact customers' satisfaction are defined. In order to show the procedures and the application of the …

Algebraic Properties Of Interval -Valued Quadri Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices And Their Application In Multi-Criteria Decision- Making Problem, P. Tharini, C. Devi Shyamala Mary, P. Tharaniya, S. Prathap, S. Ramkumar, G. Dhanavel

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

– In this study, we introduce two novel matrix concepts in the neutrosophic fuzzy domain: range-symmetric Interval-Valued Quadri Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices and kernel symmetric Interval-Valued Quadri Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices. These matrices are defined analogously to EP-matrices within the complex domain. Initially, we establish fundamental characterizations of range-symmetric matrices and then derive the necessary and sufficient conditions under which an Interval-Valued Quadri Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices becomes kernel-symmetric . A detailed analysis follows to explore the relationship between range symmetric and kernel-symmetric Interval-Valued Quadri Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices. Additionally, we introduce the concepts of Kernel and k-Kernel Symmetric Interval-Valued …

“A Profusion Of Terms And Tests”: Clarifying New Mexico’S Double Description Analysis, Van E. Snow Feb 2025

“A Profusion Of Terms And Tests”: Clarifying New Mexico’S Double Description Analysis, Van E. Snow

New Mexico Law Review

The government cannot punish someone twice for the same offense. But determining whether two crimes are the same offense for double jeopardy purposes can be difficult. New Mexico courts approach this problem in a unique way. In 1991, the New Mexico Supreme Court created a multi-step test for double description cases that largely reflected federal law under Blockburger v. United States. Over time, the supreme court modified and expanded the inquiry. These departures have produced an overly complex analysis that has lost sight of the sole limitation on imposing multiple punishments: legislative intent. This Article proposes three changes that would …

Tribal Eminent Domain: Sovereignty Gaps And Policy Solutions, John Beaty

New Mexico Law Review

This Article addresses the existence and scope of the tribal power of eminent domain. American Indian Tribes are sovereign entities within the United States and can exercise many traditional government powers. However, centuries of actions by the United States’ executive, legislative, and judicial branches have eaten away at the fabric of tribal sovereign powers. Currently, the scope of tribal sovereign authority is unclear with regards to eminent domain, the practice of a sovereign taking private property for public use. Eminent domain is important to many tribal governmental interests, including infrastructure development and fighting the fractionation of land interests. Although eminent …

Buy Now, Pay Dearly Later?: Minimizing Consumer Harm Under New Mexico’S Small Loan Regulations, Laura Creech

New Mexico Law Review

American consumers are carrying record-breaking credit card debt. As prices remain high and wages remain stagnant, short-term borrowing is common practice for many and unavoidable for some. Meanwhile, borrowing has never been easier. Several years ago, few consumers could imagine the widespread availability of “zero-interest, no-credit-impact” lending. Now, consumers can quickly obtain these pay-in-four “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) loans to purchase just about anything. The BNPL companies offering these loans market themselves as the smart shopping credit alternative for responsible budget management, and Millennial and Generation Z shoppers have rapidly embraced this new lending option. Yet, BNPL companies insufficiently …

A New Way For Justice For Families Of Schoolchildren With Disabilities? A Case Note On Luna Perez V. Sturgis Public Schools, Kevin R. Hart

New Mexico Law Review

For years, the majority of courts have ruled that parents of children with disabilities were required to exhaust special education due process procedures before filing civil actions under other disability statutes. Change would come through Luna Perez v. Sturgis Public Schools. In Luna Perez, a deaf student, Miguel Luna Perez, was denied a free and appropriate education for eleven years. After settling the case under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Mr. Luna Perez (initially through his mother, but later continuing on his own) filed a claim for compensatory damages under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section …
