Informal caregivers for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) typically experience high levels of subjective caregiver burden due to strenuous role demands, notably the need to provide frequent reminders and 24/7 monitoring to address care recipient cognitive decline. The purpose of this study was to understand the lived experiences of informal caregivers using a novel Socially Assistive Robot (SAR) to care for individuals with ADRD in a home setting and evaluate SAR impact on caregiver subjective burden. Epichaperomes are long-lasting, stable assemblies of chaperones, co-chaperones, and associated factors that facilitate cell survival in maladaptive cellular states. Their inhibition has emerged as an attractive therapeutic strategy for the treatment of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases (Rodina et al., 2016). Epichaperomes are hallmarks of robust proliferation in cancer cell populations across many cancer types and are abundantly present in several stem cell varieties, including induced pluripotent stem cells, human embryonic kidney cells, and cancer stem cells (Kishinevsky et al., 2018).

Abstract 

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is on the rise and is currently the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States (Wender, 2022). CRC screening rates are below national goals, particularly among underserved populations. At Lowell Community Health Center (LCHC), only 41.9% of eligible adults were up to date with CRC screening as of 2024.

Purpose: This quality improvement project aimed to increase CRC screening rates among average-risk adults aged 45 to 75 by implementing a multifaceted, low-burden intervention targeting both provider and patient behaviors.

BACKGROUND: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States (CDC, 2024). Unlike other common STI's, persistent infection with HPV increases the risk of cancer. A Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was approved in the United States in 2006 for girls and women aged 9 to 26 and in 2009 it was approved for boys and men in this same age range. A researcher from an entry-level doctorate program examined gaps in feeding and sensory-based care for premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and outpatient pediatric feeding setting. The Improving Feeding Outcomes project aimed to improve feeding readiness, sensory regulation, and caregiver confidence through the development of occupation-based, family-centered interventions. This report evaluates the implementation of evidence-based resources, including caregiver education handouts, a NICU staff training presentation, a caregiver tummy time group, and a standardized infant feeding assessment tool integrated into outpatient pediatric therapy practice. BACKGROUND: Hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) continue to plague hospitals across the country. HAPIs are an indication of the quality of care delivered by the hospital’s nursing workforce. These injuries are costly to organizations and can lead to increased length of stay (LOS). The development of a HAPI, depending on severity, is a reportable injury and is classified as patient harm. Patients who suffer from HAPIs can experience significant pain and at times, permanent disfigurement. Chronic absenteeism is financially, emotionally, and academically expensive for society. Title: Improving Confidence in Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in Providing Care for Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR)

Background: Anesthesia staffing for complex, high-risk procedures like Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR) is challenging due to a national shortage of anesthesia providers and the company's heavy reliance on non-permanent (locum tenens and 1099) Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). At this TAVR procedure location, 70% of the team is comprised of non-permanent staff. A lack of specialized training and experience in TAVR procedures led to a decrease in provider confidence and staffing shortages for these critical cases.

Large pieces of plastic eventually degrade into smaller microplastics that are suspended in the water column and sink to the seabed. Sea urchins are exposed to microplastics as they graze on the sea floor and can accidentally consume these pollutants. Sea urchins are ecologically important animals because they physically alter their ecosystem via grazing and are integral part of marine food webs.
