Pessimism Pervasive In Nh About State & National Economies, Household Finances 6/1/2022, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Amid rising inflation and volatile markets, pessimism about the New Hampshire and U.S. economies has increased sharply since February among Granite Staters. A record number of New Hampshire residents, particularly those with household incomes below $75,000, feel they are worse off than a year ago, anticipate being worse off a year from now, and think it is a bad time to buy a major household item.
Nature Supports A Vibrant Downtown Economy, Shannon Rogers
Nature Supports A Vibrant Downtown Economy, Shannon Rogers
UNH Cooperative Extension
In this brief we share some examples of where nature can be found or added to a downtown and then how it can enhance a community’s economy. To visualize this, we created an example of a downtown or town center that could be found or enhanced in a typical community in New Hampshire. Starting in the upper left corner, we see how a potential business can integrate with a downtown and natural assets such as a river and trees and also be close to housing.

Three Observations About Justice Alito's Draft Opinion In Dobbs - Commentary, John M. Greabe
Three Observations About Justice Alito's Draft Opinion In Dobbs - Commentary, John M. Greabe
Law Faculty Scholarship
[Excerpt] "There is much to say about Justice Samuel Alito's draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which was leaked from the United States Supreme Court on May 2 [2022].
Obviously, the most significant direct consequence of the proposed decision, which overrules Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992) while upholding the constitutionality of a Mississippi law that outlaws most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, would be the restriction or elimination of abortion services throughout much of the nation. This will have all sorts of attendant consequences, large and smaller, many of which …

Growing Racial Diversity In Rural America: Results From The 2020 Census, Kenneth M. Johnson, Daniel Lichter
Carsey Publications
In this brief, authors Kenneth Johnson and Daniel Lichter report that although population declines were widespread between 2010 and 2020, rural America became more racially and ethnically diverse. In part, the recent uptick in racial diversity in rural America is a consequence of White population decline.
Rural America remains predominately non-Hispanic White with 35 million White residents constituting 76 percent of the rural population according to the 2020 Census. This represents a decline from 79.8 percent in 2010. The number of rural residents who are members of a racial or ethnic minority increased to 11 million between 2010 and 2020, …
