The Crusading Days Of Jackie Stewart: Evaluating The Development Of Safety In Motor Racing During The 1960s., Alex Twitchen
Journal of Motorsport Culture & History
This article critically evaluates the contribution of Jackie Stewart in making motor racing a safer sport for competitors. It challenges the validity of the popular assumption that Jackie Stewart by himself developed a ‘culture of safety’ that transformed the sport. Instead, the role of other individuals are identified alongside the importance of three social processes. These processes are identified as the changing balance of power between different masculine identities, the development of commercial sponsorship and a growth in the coverage of the sport on television.
The development of motor racing from the 1960s onwards as a safer sport in which …

Migration Sustains New Hampshire’S Population Gain: Examining The Origins Of Recent Migrants, Kenneth M. Johnson
Migration Sustains New Hampshire’S Population Gain: Examining The Origins Of Recent Migrants, Kenneth M. Johnson
Carsey Publications
In this brief, Senior Demographer Kenneth Johnson reports that New Hampshire’s population continued to grow in 2021 and 2022 because a migration gain of 18,300 was enough to offset the excess of deaths over births. More people died (28,700) than were born (24,900) in New Hampshire in the past two years. Covid certainly contributed to this loss, but annual deaths already exceeded births in the state for several years before the pandemic.
Recently released Census data underscore the mobility of New Hampshire’s population and provide insights into the origin of the migrants to the state. Only 41 percent of the …

Most New Hampshire residents think Israel was justified declaring war on Hamas following its attack on October 7th, but Granite Staters are divided over Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. Half of state residents support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and a majority want the U.S. to act as a neutral peacemaker in the peace process. New Hampshire residents are split over President Biden's handling of the crisis.

All UNH Survey Center Polls
Most Vermont residents think Israel was justified in declaring war on Hamas following its attack on October 7th, but Vermonters do not think Israel's decision to cut off supplies from the Gaza Strip was justified. Vermonters indicate they feel an equal amount of sympathy for Israeli and Palestinian civilians, and most want the U.S. to be neutral arbiters in a larger peace process. Vermonters are divided in their assessment of President Joe Biden's handling of the conflict but are more positive in their assessment of his overall foreign policy.

Majority In Maine Plan To Vote No On Question 3, Yes On Question 4; Uncertainty Reigns Over Questions 5-8 10/25/2023, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
With only a few weeks remaining before Maine's 2023 Referendum election, Mainers appear set to reject Question 3, which proposes to create a publicly-owned utility, the Pine Tree Power Company. Majorities support Question 4 on automotive right to repair and Question 2, which concerns campaign finance and corruption. A smaller majority support Question 1, a measure some argue is designed to make Question 3 difficult to implement if it were to pass. Few Mainers say they have heard much or have a solid understanding of Questions 5 through 8, with many indicating that they are unsure how they will vote …
