The Special Issue of Geomatics on "Advances in Ocean Mapping and Nautical Cartography" addresses emerging methodologies, technologies, and applications in ocean mapping. This collection includes studies on the development of high-resolution seabed mapping techniques, innovative data processing for marine cartography, and advancements in hydrographic surveying. It highlights the importance of integrating geospatial data from sources such as remote sensing, autonomous underwater vehicles, and satellite-based observations. Additionally, articles discuss challenges and strategies for ensuring data accuracy and accessibility, reflecting a growing interest in sustainable marine resource management and navigation safety enhancements.

Western Gulf Of Maine Acoustic Assessment Reference Sites, Larry G. Ward, Rachel C. Morrison, Michael Bogonko

Four “reference sites” were established in 2023 in the Western Gulf of Maine (WGOM) for the specific purpose of testing and evaluating acoustic systems (i.e., sub-bottom seismic profilers) by the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping and Joint Hydrographic Center (CCOM/JHC). Determination of the reference sites was guided by a detailed understanding of the surficial geology and shallow subsurface stratigraphy based on an extensive database developed over several decades by UNH. Research Report: Cold-Hardy Hydrangeas For Landscape And Cut Flowers, Rebecca G. Sideman, Kaitlyn Orde, Ella Lukacz, Cathy Neal

This research report describes the performance of several cold-hard “panicle” (H. paniculata), “smooth” (H. arborescens), and “oakleaf” (H. quercifolia) hydrangea as landscape plants and for cut flower production in Durham, NH. We established a replicated planting of sixteen newer hydrangea cultivars at Woodman Farm in summer 2020. Preliminary data from these young shrubs indicates that there are wide differences in flower production, stem quality, flowering time and duration, and postharvest floral quality – among other traits.

The Forms Of Representation: How To Be A Kantian Realist, Willem A. Devries

Sellars argued that Kant did not make certain distinctions concerning space and time, and because of this adopted his transcendental idealism. Once these distinctions are made, the path to realism remains open. Sellars' argument is not entirely clear. This essay attempts to clarify the argument, showing why Sellars believed he could remain a scientific realist while also adopting a Kantian style epistemology.
