Emotional Intelligence And Socioemotional Attributes: Distinct Constructs And Their Uses, John D. Mayer, David R. Caruso

We examine evidence for the validity of different measures under the label emotional intelligence (EI). Some measures are valid for the assessment of EI and others are valid for the assessment of socioemotional attributes (SEA). The constructs of EI and SEA are defined and measures of each described, along with the mental response processes the measures elicit: test-takers’ abilities, self-estimated attributes, or observer reports. Both EI and SEA measures are valid but for distinctly different purposes, and the two classes of measures make different predictions. Recent advancements in sensor and tracking technologies have facilitated the real-time tracking of marine vessels as they traverse the oceans. As a result, there is an increasing demand to analyze these datasets to derive insights into vessel movement patterns and to investigate activities occurring within specific spatial and temporal contexts. This survey offers a comprehensive review of contemporary research in trajectory data mining, with a particular focus on maritime applications. The article collects and evaluates state-of-the-art algorithmic approaches and key techniques pertinent to various use case scenarios within this domain. NOAA’s Office of Response & Restoration (OR&R) partnered with Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) to facilitate an International Oil Spill Modeling Working Group (IOSMWG) starting in February 2024. This effort was funded by the USCG’s Great Lakes Oil Spill Center of Expertise (GLCOE) with the following objectives:

• Improve collaboration among oil spill modelers
• Understand current state of oil spill modeling with respect to uncertainty, shorelines, coastal environments and countermeasures
• Identify potential advancements needed in uncertainty, shorelines, coastal environments and countermeasures
• Identify knowledge/research gaps to be addressed in uncertainty, shorelines, coastal environments and countermeasures
