Introduction: The model of emotional intelligence as an ability has evolved since its introduction 35 years ago. The revised model includes that emotional intelligence (EI) is a broad intelligence within the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) model of intelligence, and that more areas of problem solving are involved than originally detailed. An argument is made here that veridical scoring of EI test responses is a sound procedure relative to scoring keys based on expert consensus or a single emotion theory. To the degree that EI fits present-day theories of intelligence (i.e., the CHC model), any subsidiary factors of EI reasoning should correlate highly …

Given the rapid growth of data creation, increasing automation and AI, and expanding daily interactions with data, our collective need to increase data literacy is of key importance. However, the literature identifies a data literacy gap highlighting a need for improving data literacy skills in the workplace. This session will share seven proposed business data literacy competencies, demonstrate the competencies’ alignment with the ACRL Framework, and discuss findings from a two-part research study with industry professionals on how data literacy competencies move from classroom to workplace practices. More than half of Massachusetts residents expect the U.S. economy to experience bad times in the next year and more than two-thirds expect tariffs to harm the national economy. Bay Staters are also pessimistic about their personal finances, as few say they are better off than a year ago and nearly half expect to be worse off a year from now. Granite Staters' Pessimism Over National Economy Rises 5/30/2025, Unh Survey Center

Granite Staters remain divided in their assessment of their personal finances and their expectations for the next year, but are increasingly pessimistic about the direction of the U.S. economy. Few Granite Staters, particularly Democrats, feel that now is a good time to make major decisions such as buying a major household item, having a child, or buying a home or car. An increasing majority expect tariffs to hurt the national economy and many expect poor economic times nationally in the coming year.

Nearly two-thirds of Connecticut residents believe tariffs will harm the economy and a plurality expect bad times for the national economy over the next year. State residents have ambivalent predictions for the state economy, with a majority expecting mixed conditions for Connecticut's economy. A plurality of Connecticut residents, including most Democrats, predict their personal finances will be worse off a year from now. State residents are divided on whether now is a good or bad time to invest in the stock market while a majority believe it is a bad time to buy a house or have a child.

Approval of President Trump's job performance has declined slightly among Granite Staters since his inauguration. On foreign policy, most New Hampshire residents think Trump's plan to accept a jet from Qatar is inappropriate. Nearly half of state residents feel the U.S. should support Ukraine more and help them retake lost territory even if it prolongs their war with Russia. Approval of President Donald Trump remains low in Rhode Island. Approval of Governor Dan McKee has reached an all-time low in the state, as majorities of Republicans, Independents, and Democrats disapprove. Few believe McKee deserves re-election. Rhode Islanders express some interest in 2022 gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes running for governor in 2026, but there is less enthusiasm for former Republican gubernatorial nominee Ashley Kalus or former governor Gina Raimondo to run. In contrast to McKee, a majority of Rhode Islanders believe Senator Jack Reed deserves to be re-elected.
