Trust: The Invisible Force Behind Effective Leadership During Times Of Change, Lindsay Atoro

Workplace change is constant, yet most change management models focus on logistical, financial, and operational factors, overlooking the human aspects. Strategies to support employees often neglect the critical role of trust in effectiveness and success. To more deeply explore the role of trust, this study combined a comprehensive literature review with leader interviews to compare theoretical findings with real-world practices. Results revealed that while leaders acknowledged the importance of trust in leading teams through change, fewer than half explicitly identified it without prompting. Beyond A Protagonist Bias In Narrative Identity Research: Methods For Identifying Master Narratives In Interview Data, Andrew D. Coppens, Jayson Seaman, Cindy Hartman

This article advances a methodological shift in narrative identity research by addressing the field’s protagonist bias – the tendency to rely on first-person autobiographical accounts as the primary evidence for identifying cultural master narratives. We integrate Erikson’s psychosocial identity framework, Vygotsky’s “tool and result” methodological insight, and sociolinguistic approaches to narrative to develop a three-stage analytic logic: (1) identifying small-n narratives through scenes conveyed in discourse; (2) grouping these into Big-N narratives that cohere thematically across scenes (Tannen, 2007, 2008); and (3) assessing candidate master narratives using McLean and Syed’s (2016) five criteria. Background: Rural youth face barriers to involvement in effective Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) learning experiences, leading to persistent underrepresentation in STEM fields. Purpose: This study examined the feasibility of using mobile devices to engage rural youth in informal STEM learning (ISL) during free-choice, outdoor recreational activities. We assessed outcomes of a 10-month intervention related to STEM interest, identity, and future planning. Method: Fifty-four youth ages 12 to 17 completed monthly STEM challenges delivered via a mobile platform, aligned with connected learning and free-choice learning principles. Family Nurse Practitioner Workforce Response To The Public Health Opioid Crisis Through Curriculum Revision, Dayle Sharp, Marcy Doyle, Michelle Capozzoli

The opioid crisis continues to pose a critical public health challenge in the United States, demanding an adequately trained primary care workforce. In response, a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program revised its curriculum to prepare students to care for individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) through a multi-pronged educational intervention. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, Situated Learning Theory, and Community of Practice Theory, the revised curriculum integrated a 24-hour Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) waiver training, clinical shadowing with MOUD providers, and participation in a 10-month Project ECHO telementoring series based on SAMHSA’s Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 63. Many of the mountain summits of Acadia National Park (ACAD) are dominated by Pinus rigida (Pitch Pine). The ACAD Pitch Pine population is particularly valuable due to its position at the northernmost edge of the species’ range, its association with unique animal and plant communities, and its contribution to the aesthetics of the park. Pitch Pine is host to Dendroctonus frontalis (Southern Pine Beetle [SPB]). As the name suggests, SPB is native to the southeastern US, and can kill large numbers of healthy pines via mass-attack. Zero-Shot Segmentation Of Estuary Mudflats Using The Segment Anything Model, Jaren Unzen

Estuary mudflats are ecologically sensitive environments that require consistent monitoring. Traditional satellite-based classification workflows are often constrained by the high cost and labor-intensive nature of manual data annotation. This study evaluates the utility of Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM 3), a foundational computer vision model, to automate mudflat segmentation without domain-specific fine-tuning. By leveraging the model’s text-prompting capabilities alongside specialized pre- and post-processing techniques, we generated segmentation masks in a zero-shot framework. Our approach achieved an F1- score of 0.51, demonstrating the inherent challenges of spectrally complex coastal features. The weeks following the birth of a baby are often described as a time of extremes: profound joy paired with deep exhaustion, vulnerability, and adjustment. For birthing people, this period involves physical recovery from childbirth, dramatic hormonal shifts, disrupted sleep, learning to feed and care for an infant, and navigating major emotional changes. While some new parents have strong support systems, others face isolation, housing instability, or unsafe home environments. Reading Between The Lines: Representations Of Dyslexia In Young Adult Literature, Carli B. Gauvin

While dyslexia affects upwards of 20% of the population, this learning disability is not commonly brought up in young adult literature. This lack of representation negatively impacts those with dyslexia, who often fail to find themselves in the books they read, and readers in general, who are given fewer opportunities to gain insight into the learning disability. Young adult books that do discuss dyslexia can be at risk of portraying the learning disability in an unfavorable light, which can make dyslexic readers feel undervalued in society and can introduce misconceptions about dyslexia to all readers.
