Family Nurse Practitioner Workforce Response To The Public Health Opioid Crisis Through Curriculum Revision, Dayle Sharp, Marcy Doyle, Michelle Capozzoli
All Materials
The opioid crisis continues to pose a critical public health challenge in the United States, demanding an adequately trained primary care workforce. In response, a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program revised its curriculum to prepare students to care for individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) through a multi-pronged educational intervention. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, Situated Learning Theory, and Community of Practice Theory, the revised curriculum integrated a 24-hour Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) waiver training, clinical shadowing with MOUD providers, and participation in a 10-month Project ECHO telementoring series based on SAMHSA’s Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 63. The Northeast Snow Survey (NESS) Feasibility Study was launched to address a critical gap in snowpack and weather monitoring across the northeastern United States. Unlike the western U.S., which benefits from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Snow Telemetry (SNOTEL) network, the Northeast lacks a coordinated, automated, real-time snow monitoring system—particularly at higher elevations where snowpack dynamics most strongly influence flooding, water supply, ecosystems, outdoor recreation, and working lands.
Funded through the FY2023 federal omnibus bill, the NESS Feasibility Study includes two phases: Phase 1–the content of this report–focused on interest holder engagement and …

Bay Staters Support Same Day Registration, Lower Taxes & Rent Control, Oppose Recreational Marijuana Repeal 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Massachusetts voters may be faced with several prominent ballot questions in the November general election, and Bay Staters are generally supportive of same-day voter registration, decreasing the state income tax, and establishing rent control, while a majority oppose repealing laws which legalized the use of marijuana. In the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Ed Markey continues to lead Seth Moulton and both candidates hold comfortable leads over prospective Republican challenger John Deaton in the general election. Just over half of Bay Staters approve of Governor Maura Healey's job performance, but she holds large leads over prospective Republican challengers in November. …

In Maine Senate Race, Platner Leads Mills In Primary And Collins In General Election Matchup 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Graham Platner continues to hold a large lead over Maine governor Janet Mills in the race for the Democratic nomination for US Senate. Platner leads incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins in a general election matchup, while Collins and Mills are deadlocked. In the gubernatorial election, Democrat Nirav Shah and Republican Robert Charles lead their respective primaries, but many likely primary voters are undecided and many candidates are unknown to them. Maine's 2nd District will likely be close in the general election as Republican Paul LePage and several possible Democratic opponents are tied in general election matchups. The cost of living, …

Lamont Frontrunner In Nomination For Ct Governor, State Of State Proposals Popular With Residents 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Incumbent Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont continues to hold a comfortable lead in his bid for the Democratic nomination in 2026, although approval of Lamont's performance as governor has slipped in recent months. However, bipartisan majorities support his proposals to ban cell phone use and provide free breakfast in Connecticut public schools, along with requiring parental permission for children to access social media platforms. The high cost of living is seen as the most important problem facing the state and just over half of state residents say it has been difficult to pay their home heating costs this winter, and a …

Foulkes Retains Lead In Ri Dem Gubernatorial Primary, Mckee Approval Falls To New Low 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Helena Foulkes remains the leader in the race for the Democratic nomination for Rhode Island governor, but a plurality of likely voters remain undecided. Neither the declared candidates nor possible late entrant and former Governor Gina Raimondo are particularly popular among likely Democratic primary voters, and very few want Raimondo to launch a new campaign for governor. On the Republican side, the declared candidates are not well-known among likely Republican primary voters, but there is strong interest in 2022 Republican nominee Ashley Kalus running again. Approval of Governor Dan McKee's performance as governor has fallen to an all-time low, but …

Granite State Issues: Guns In Colleges, Ice In Merrimack, Public School Choice Limits, Marijuana Legalization 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Majorities of New Hampshire residents oppose a proposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing facility in Merrimack and the elimination of vaccine requirements in public schools. Pluralities oppose a bill allowing guns and other weapons at public colleges and universities and a bill prohibiting public school districts from limiting the number of students they accept from other districts or who wish to leave and go to another district. A majority approve of legalizing marijuana for recreational use. Overall, the most important problems facing New Hampshire are housing and taxes. Finally, Governor Kelly Ayotte’s approval rating has slipped to the lowest …

Assessing The Threat Of Southern Pine Beetle To Pitch Pine In Acadia National Park, Caroline R. Kanaskie, Mark J. Ducey, Jeff R. Garnas
Faculty Publications
Many of the mountain summits of Acadia National Park (ACAD) are dominated by Pinus rigida (Pitch Pine). The ACAD Pitch Pine population is particularly valuable due to its position at the northernmost edge of the species’ range, its association with unique animal and plant communities, and its contribution to the aesthetics of the park. Pitch Pine is host to Dendroctonus frontalis (Southern Pine Beetle [SPB]). As the name suggests, SPB is native to the southeastern US, and can kill large numbers of healthy pines via mass-attack. With warming winters, SPB can establish and persist further north than ever before, presenting …
