Promoting Postpartum Knowledge And Support Through The Provision Of Educational And Support Resources During The Postpartum Admission Stay: A Quality Improvement Project, Danielle Woodman
Master's Theses and Capstones
BACKGROUND: The postpartum period is often imbued with heightened emotions, unfamiliar challenges, and an abundance of uncertainty. Postpartum depression and anxiety are well discussed in literature, yet postpartum mothers may lack knowledge of these conditions and their associated risk factors, signs, and symptoms as well as the support resources which are available to them. Improved postpartum support and awareness may alleviate the prevalence, severity, and progression of these conditions into more severe cases.
LOCAL PROBLEM: Within the given microsystem, a gap in postpartum educational and support resources exists due to a lack of resource awareness and ease of accessibility.
METHODS: …

Abstract
Background: Opioids and related injections are the most common drug associated with infection (Capizzi et al., 2020). Overall, data overwhelmingly shows infection and overdose rates on the rise in recent years (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2019).
Methods: The aim of this study was to identify trends between age and concurrent infection rates related to substance use from 2012 to 2019. This quantitative study utilized data from the NH Hospital Discharge Summaries (Office of Health Statistics, 2021). Specifically, trends among three age groups (young adults (18-34), middle-aged (35-54), and older adults (55+)) who were admitted to an inpatient unit or the …
The State Of Our Community Social Capital In Kensington, New Hampshire, Sawyer B. Rogers
The State Of Our Community Social Capital In Kensington, New Hampshire, Sawyer B. Rogers
Honors Theses and Capstones
This study investigates the transformation of social capital over time, using the example of a small New England town: Kensington, New Hampshire. National social capital assessments indicate a substantial decline in social capital since the post-WW2 era. Kensington does not follow this extreme decline in social capital, with a significant rise during the 90s and into the early 2000s. Additionally, Kensington has high levels of social capital when compared to New Hampshire residents overall. Survey findings point to strong trust, yet weak social infrastructure in Kensington. Therefore, the most consistent way to maintain social capital between shifts is to create …

Democrats Sour On Sununu As Nh Governor's Approval Continues To Decline 12/22/2021, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
After enjoying widespread popularity throughout much of his tenure as governor, only a slim majority currently approve of Governor Chris Sununu's job performance. Much of this decline is due to a sizeable drop in support among Democrats. With Sununu having chosen not to run for the U.S. Senate in 2022, several individuals have been mentioned as candidates for the Republican nomination, but many are not well-known or well-liked in the state. A record low believe the state is headed in the right direction.

Approval Among Democrats Fuels Uptick In Biden Approval In Granite State 12/21/2021, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
President Joe Biden's approval rating has improved slightly, with state residents now evenly divided in their assessment of his job performance. Biden's approval among Democrats, which had declined for months, now matches marks from earlier in his presidency. Slim majorities disapprove of Biden's handling of foreign affairs and the economy, but a small majority approve of his handling of COVID-19. Only a quarter of Granite Staters feel the country is headed in the right direction.

New Hampshire EPSCoR
Maintaining shape fidelity of 3D bio-printed scaffolds with soft biomaterials is an ongoing challenge. Here, a rheological investigation focusing on identifying useful physical and mechanical properties directly related to the geometric fidelity of 3D bio-printed scaffolds is presented. To ensure during- and post-printing shape fidelity of the scaffolds, various percentages of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) (viscosity enhancer) and different calcium salts (CaCl2 and CaSO4, physical cross-linkers) were mixed into alginate before extrusion to realize shape fidelity. The overall solid content of Alginate-Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) was limited to 6%. A set of rheological tests, e.g., flow curves, amplitude tests, and three interval …

Probing Secondary Coordination Sphere Interactions Within Porphyrin-Cored Polymer Nanoparticles, Brian F. Patenaude, Erik B. Berda, Samuel Pazincni
New Hampshire EPSCoR
A suite of zinc porphyrin-cored random coil polymers and polymeric nanoparticles with varying degrees of potential hydrogen bonding character and steric bulk were synthesized and characterized to study secondary coordination sphere interactions. The reaction of cyanide with N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of porphyrin-cored polymeric nanoparticles was monitored via UV-Vis spectroscopy. It is shown that the zinc porphyrin-cored polymers and nanoparticles catalyzed the reaction of cyanide with N,N-dimethylformamide with the highest reaction rates occurring with polymeric nanoparticles with a greater number of potential hydrogen bond donors and greater steric bulk.
