TEST A: The manufacturer's representative operates the tractor for a minimum of 12 hours using light to heavy drawbar loads in each gear.

This serves as a period for limber up, general observation and adjustments. Adjustments that are permissible include valve tappet clearance, breaker ,point gap, spark plug gaps, clutch and others of a similar nature. No new parts or accessories can be installed without having mention made of it in the report. No data' are recorded during this preliminary run except the time that the engine is operated.

The effect of replacing one-third of the concentrate of a ration for growing chicks with a mixture of starch and urea that contained an amount of nitrogen equal to that contained in the concentrate withdrawn from the ration was studied with two lots of chicks. 2. All chicks of both lots consumed equal amounts of nitrogen during the experiment. 3. Conclusions were based on increases in body weight and content of nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus at slaughter.

The Buffy Plains Pocket-mouse (Perognathus flavescens flavescens) is a typical mammal of the Sandhill Region of Nebraska. Its home, like that of other species of pocket-mice, is a series of burrows in the ground, consisting of several entrance holes leading to the main 'burrow, in which is located the nest and the food storage chambers. In the Nebraska sandhills its burrows and nests are commonly placed beneath clumps of Spanish Bayonet or Prickly Pear Cactus, and the entrance holes usually are so distributed as to open from under the plant in all directions.

The studies of the Squaw formation of the "Chugwater" series were conducted in the vicinity of Lander, Fremont County, Wyoming. Most of the observations were made at Derby Dome which is located in parts of T31N and T32N, R98W fifteen miles southeast of Lander. Others were made at Dallas Dome, nine miles southeast of Lander, and at Squaw Canyon, the type section, about four miles west of Lander. The region is one of moderately high, but not mountainous relief. The elevation at Lander is about 5350 feet, Derby Dome being somewhat less and Squaw Canyon somewhat more. Since it is …

The beginning of a disease of Boateloua curtipendula, first observed in 1937 but occurring in alarming proportions in 1939, is of much interest. The fact that this grass has increased greatly during the past six years, from a rank of seventh or eighth among dominants of true prairie to one of the two or three most important species, adds unusual economic interest. The proteins of the entire wheat kernel and of the bran and shorts are apparently utilized with equal efficiency by growing chicks when used with a base of corn, barley, oats, meat scraps, fish meal, and soybean meal. The relatively higher protein levels of bran and shorts, as compared to ground wheat, should be considered by the poultry producer in deciding which product or products can be used with greatest economy. A good concentration of a feather-growth factor is found in wheat bran. Other common feedstuffs carry the same essential, and the amount of bran which should be used in …
