Grassland Patterns In 1940, J. E. Weaver, R. W. Darland
Department of Agronomy and Horticulture: Faculty Publications
Major changes in grassland have now been followed for a decade over a considerable portion of true prairie in Nebraska and Kansas. The replacement of portions of this association by mixed prairie has been described (Weaver, '43). This major change resulted from the enormous increase or invasion of western wheat grass (Agropyron smithii) and the development of an understory of blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis) or buffalo grass (Buchloe dactyloides). But numerous areas of true prairie were only partially occupied by western wheat grass. Nearly all of the original cover of bluestems and associated species, …

Notes On The Trematode Subfamily Loimoinae (Monogenea), With A Description Of A New Genus, Harold W. Manter, Waldo L. Schmitt
Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology: Library Materials
The subfamily Loimoinae was named by Price (1936) for a peculiar monogenetic trematode, Loimos salpinggoides MacCal lum, 1917, from the gills of a dusky shark, Carcharias obscurus (Lesueur), at Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA. Price (1938) redescribed this trematode, correcting several errors made by MacCallum. Manter (1938) described Tricotyle scoliodoni from a shark, Scoliodon terrae-novae (Richardson), from Beaufort, North Carolina, USA. He noted some similarities between Tricotyle and Loimos. The redescription of Loimos by Price increased these similarities.
