Tests With Poison Baits Against Cockroaches, C. S. Lofgren, G. S. Burden
Entomology Papers from Other Sources
Poison baits consisting of some food material with a toxicant such as phosphorus or boric acid have been used for many years for controlling the cockroaches (Mallis 1954, pp. 181-5). Recently Keller et al. (1956) reported that a bait consisting of cornmeal (73 percent), Coca-Cola syrup (25 percent), and Dipterex (2 percent) controlled Periplaneta spp. in homes for 30-60 days.

Grain Sorghum For Growing-Finishing Swine, E. R. Peo, Jr., D. B. Hudman
Grain Sorghum For Growing-Finishing Swine, E. R. Peo, Jr., D. B. Hudman
Department of Animal Science: Faculty Publications
Considerable research has been conducted on the feeding value of grain sorghums for swine. Baker and Reinmiller (1939) observed that for the production of gains, grain sorghums were equal to or better than corn but considerable more feed was required to produce a pound of gain with the sorghums. Loeffel (1957) summarized several Nebraska swine experiments and observed that grain sorghum and corn produced approximately the same average daily gain, but, in general, 10 to 20~o more feed was required per pound of gain with the grain sorghum. Similar results have been reported by Aubel (1950, 1954, 1955, 1956) and …
The Mystery Of Justice Holmes, Perlie P. Fallon
The Mystery Of Justice Holmes, Perlie P. Fallon
Nebraska Law Review
We have lived in an era of crusades, ideologies and causes. We whose lives extend into a second generation look back on causes and leaders of causes which were with us but not with those of the second generation. Such is not the fate of Justice Holmes. He continues, if only a subject of controversy. Two reasons for the continuity are apparent at once. He wrote well: “Worships language and forgives . . . Everyone by whom it lives,” and he wrote on law and justice—universals which interest everyone and which have inspired teachers from a time extending back through …

Field Techniques For Sexing And Aging Game Animals, Donald R. Thompson
Field Techniques For Sexing And Aging Game Animals, Donald R. Thompson
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: Publications
The purpose of this booklet is to provide a ready field reference for identification, sexing and aging of common game species. It has purposely been kept in simplified form, presenting only those techniques which can commonly be applied in the field and avoiding those which would require special equipment and skills. Untrained personnel should be given demonstrations of the techniques, and thereafter this reference should serve as a reminder. It is not expected that the reference could successfully be used without such demonstration. Certain of the techniques such as cloaca! examination of waterfowl may require considerable practice by the individual. …

The Effect Of Inbreeding Diallel Crosses Of Inbred Lines Of Corn Selected For High And Low Combining Ability, Melvin Dale Rumbaugh
The Effect Of Inbreeding Diallel Crosses Of Inbred Lines Of Corn Selected For High And Low Combining Ability, Melvin Dale Rumbaugh
Department of Agronomy and Horticulture: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
The present day hybrid seed corn industry is based upon the development and utilization of inbred lines in hybrid combination. Current breeding procedures are largely predicated on the assumption that the actions of complementary, dominant or partially dominant favorable genes are responsible for the heterosis observed in the hybrids produced. If heterosis were due in considerable part to nonallelic interactions or to overdominance, the present breeding procedures might be expected to yield superior hybrids but would not be highly efficient.
Since the proposal of complementary growth factors as a genetic explanation of heterosis and the alternative proposal of physiological stimulation …
