Test 233: Twin City M-M Model "Jt", Nebraska Tractor Test Lab

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …

Notes On The Owls Found In Lincoln County, Nebraska, Wilson Tout

Papers in Ornithology

During more than a quarter of a century I have been making notes and collecting information about the Owls of Lincoln county and it seemed an opportune time to put this information into print that it might be available to those who are interested in birds and serve as a basis for further study and amplification. Lincoln County is not usually considered a favorable place for Owls to reside on account of the absence of heavy timber over most of its area. But the nine varieties listed will probably be extended as more observations are made by those who are …

The series Σni[((p + 1)(p +3)…(p +2n -1)) ÷(2nn!) X((p-1)/2)n (x), where Xn(p-1)/2(x) (hereafter indicated simply by Xn) is a symmetric Jacobi polynomial p >-1, and i a positive integer, is summable (C, k),k>i—1/2, for the range -1 <x<1.

Pre-Pennsylvanian Stratigraphy Of Nebraska, Alvin Leonard Lugn Dec 1934

Pre-Pennsylvanian Stratigraphy Of Nebraska, Alvin Leonard Lugn

Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences: Faculty Publications

Sioux quartzite, granite, and schistose metamorphic rocks have been recognized in the pre-Cambrian. The present irregularities, the "basins and highs," on the pre- Cambrian surface are the result of erosion and a long structural history. In general succeedingly younger rocks rest unconformably by overlap against the pre-Cambrian "highs." The principal erosional and structural "highs" are: the "Nemaha mountains," the Cambridge anticline, the Chadron dome, and the Sioux Falls area. "Basins," or saddle-like depressions, occur on the pre-Cambrian surface between the "highs." The largest of these trends from southeast to northwest across the central part of Nebraska. The history of each …

Further Studies On The Survival Time Of The Bovine Tubercle Bacillus In Soil, Soil And Dung, In Dung And On Grass, With Experiments On Feeding Guinea-Pigs And Calves On Grass Artificially Infected With Bovine Tubercle Bacilli, E. C. G. Maddock

Michigan Bovine Tuberculosis Bibliography and Database

IN a previous paper (Maddock, 1933) it was reported that when soil, soil and dung mixtures and dung were infected by adding fine emulsions of bovine tubercular material, virulent tubercle bacilli could be recovered after 178 days' exposure under field conditions. The experiments reported in the aforesaid paper were carried out in 1931, but it was felt that weight would be added to the results if the experiments could be repeated in a year of differing weather conditions.

Choosing And Operating Electric Stoves, A. E. Baragar, E. B. Snyder Mar 1934

Choosing And Operating Electric Stoves, A. E. Baragar, E. B. Snyder

Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars

Electric stoves have undergone so many changes and improvements during the last few years that many of the experimental tests and recommendations of earlier publications may now be considered as obsolete. The purpose of this circular is to discuss electric stoves as they exist today and to present information which may serve as an aid in choosing and operating this type of cooking appliance. The circular is based on the recent Research Bulletin 68, of the Nebraska Experiment Station, to which the reader who is concerned with experimental procedure is referred.

Some Digenetic Trematodes From Deep-Water Fish Of Tortugas, Florida, Harold W. Manter Jan 1934

Some Digenetic Trematodes From Deep-Water Fish Of Tortugas, Florida, Harold W. Manter

Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology: Library Materials

Introduction (first two paragraphs)

The parasitic fauna of ocean depths is practically unknown. Although an extensive fish population occurs at all depths, very little study has yet been made on the helminths of these fish. During the summers of 1930, 1931, and 1932 excellent opportunity was offered for the collection of parasites from fish trawled from depths varying from 40 to 582 fathoms at Tortugas, Florida. A considerable number of systematic hauls by the staff and crew of the Tortugas Biological Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution of Washington yielded an abundance and considerable variety of fish, some of rare forms, …

Rb34-6 The Relation Of Drouth To Water-Use In Nebraska, G.E. Condra

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

Three severe drouths have occurred in Nebraska and adjacent states within the past eighty years, and less severe ones have come at moderately regular intervals. Their influence on the agricultural development of the state is well known, but their relation to water supply in general is not so well understood.

This research bulletin is a brief review of the relation of drouth to soil moisture, surface water, and groundwater supplies.

Cephalosporium Wilt And Die-Back Of The White Elm, R. W. Goss, Paul Raymond Frink

Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins

A new disease of the white elm has been found to be common in eastern Nebraska. The causal organism has been isolated and its pathogenicity proved by inoculation. The fungus belongs to the genus Cephalosporium and is considered to be the same as that described by Curtis May of Ohio and found by him in specimens obtained in Iowa, Missouri, New York, and Washington, D.C. The morphology and cultural characters of the organism are described.

Ec34-48 Farm Sheep Facts, M.A. Alexander, W.W. Derrick

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

The farm flock and the fattening of western feeder lambs are the only methods of sheep production of importance in Nebraska. The farm flock is not a major enterprise on Nebraska farms. It serves as a side line on farms having a well-drained place which sheep may call their own.

This 1934 extension circular contains information on: Nebraska Sheep-industry facts; market, ewe, ram, and lamb facts; shearing and wool facts; two parasites and one pest; grading and marketing wool; and scouring and carding wool for home use.
