Farm Family Housing Needs And Preferences In Nebraska, Virginia Y. Trotter, Margaret I. Liston
Farm Family Housing Needs And Preferences In Nebraska, Virginia Y. Trotter, Margaret I. Liston
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
This bulletin reports the results of a survey of Nebraska farm family preferences, activities and possessions as they are related to housing needs. The study was part of a cooperative research project for the improvement of farm family housing in the North Central Region. The purpose of the study in Nebraska was three-fold: (1) To interpret the housing needs of farm families of the state in terms of: (a) some of the physical characteristics of the farm dwellings currently occupied; (b) features farm families would like in a new house if they were building one; (c) activities carried on in …
Relative Efficiency Of Roots And Tops Of Plants In Protecting . The Soil From Erosion, Joseph Kramer, J. E. Weaver
Relative Efficiency Of Roots And Tops Of Plants In Protecting . The Soil From Erosion, Joseph Kramer, J. E. Weaver
Papers of John E. Weaver (1884–1956)
An increasing realization of the importance of preventing or controlling soil erosion has resulted in numerous scientific investigations. Some of these are concerned with soil characteristics which promote or retard erosivity (Middleton, '30; Middleton et al., '34; Lutz, '34; and Bouyoucos, '35). Many have to do with engineering methods of reducing soil wastage (Bates and Zeasman, '30; Ramser, '30; Roe, '33; and Bartel, '35). But perhaps most were planned to discover the effects of plants in protecting and binding the soil, reducing runoff, and consequent loss of soil and subsoil (Sampson and Weyl, '18; Duley and Miller, '23; Lowdermilk, …
A Study Of The Environmental Conditions Influencing The Development Of Stem Rust In The Absence Of An Alternate Host. Ii. Infection Studies With Puccinia Graminis Tritici Form Iii And Form Ix, George L. Peltier
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
Stakman and Levine have shown that Puccinia graminis tritici (Pers.) Erikss. and Henn. consists of a number of biologic forms, which can be determined by their action on different varieties of Triticum species. To date 37 such biologic forms have been identified by them through the parasitic action on 12 differential hosts chosen from a large number of varieties of Triticum species. To determine whether these biologic forms remain constant in their behavior under various environmental conditions, a detailed study of the host-parasite relation was undertaken with 2 of these forms. At the same time an opportunity was afforded to …
