Constraints To Wilderness Recreation: A Scoping Review Of Existing Research, Elena R. Thomas, William L. Rice, Jaclyn R. Rushing, Jennifer M. Thomsen, Christopher A. Armatas

Society and Conservation Faculty Publications

Considerable research has been conducted on the constraints to recreation that traditionally underrepresented communities in the United States confront; however, there remains a lack of synthesis concerning constraints to visitation to federally designated wilderness areas. This scoping review of the current available literature seeks to reveal what constraints have been identified to visitation to federally designated wilderness in the United States and what groups are experiencing them. Constraints identified include discomfort and safety concerns specific to wilderness settings, cultural expectations, and issues of time, cost, and access. In this article, we bring forward a research with ethnomathematical aspects that shows the socio-cultural relations experienced in a quilombola community registered as Santa Luzia do Maruanum, in the rural region of the capital Macapá, in the state of Amapá, Brazil. Such research was based on the activities developed by 12 ceramic craftswomen in the community, members of the Ceramic Craftswomen Association of Maruanum - ALOMA (Associação de Louceiras do Maruanum in portuguese). The Education for All proposal is an international document substantiating some approved national laws aimed at providing high-quality education for all: peasants, quilombolas, indigenous, landless individuals, women, people with disabilities, among others. However, when it comes to inclusion and School Mathematics , regardless of all advances in the Mathematical Education field, this subject remains formally introduced and taught, it still disregards the concept of teaching all, since it is inaccessible to most students.
