In a world where AI tools can generate summaries in written, video, and audio formats, providing quick alternatives to engaging with original texts, students are less and less likely to see the value of time-consuming reading assignments. This workshop explores the implications of these trends for teaching and learning. Together, we will reflect on the value of slow, deep reading for cognitive development, examine how technology has made reading more challenging for all of us, and discuss what educators might do to motivate students to embrace these challenges as desirable difficulties. When first-year students arrive on campus, they may face many challenges, such as insufficient academic preparation, conflicting obligations, social adjustment, and traversing the college landscape. This challenge is magnified for academically at-risk students leading higher education institutions to invest funds and retention efforts into student success programs. Exploring The Incidence Of Synthetic Versus Non-Synthetic Cannabinoid-Induced Psychosis: A Scoping Review, Ruaa Al-Juboori, Zachariah Francois, Precious Patrick Edet, Marie Barnard

Cannabinoids, including synthetic and non-synthetic variants, are associated with diverse mental health outcomes including the development of psychotic symptoms. While non-synthetic cannabinoids such as THC are well-studied, the stronger affinity of synthetic cannabinoids for cannabinoid receptors may lead to more severe and unpredictable health outcomes, including acute psychosis. Therefore, the objective of this scoping review is to investigate if the literature reported differences in the incidence of synthetic cannabinoid-induced psychosis versus non-synthetic cannabinoid-induced psychosis and quantify these differences if present.
