The Use Of Scattering Cancellation To Cloak And Decouple Slot Antennas And Antenna Arrays, Daniel Ferro
The Use Of Scattering Cancellation To Cloak And Decouple Slot Antennas And Antenna Arrays, Daniel Ferro
Honors Theses
The concept of cloaking has been prevalent in emerging research, being able to hide oneself completely from outside observers would be a huge benefit for covert surveillance and other fields. This idea has expanded past optical invisibility into the field of electromagnetic invisibility. To accomplish this form of cloaking, a non-natural material, called metamaterials, must be used. Furthermore, metamaterials can be used in a variety of different techniques including transformation-based cloaking, transmission line cloaking, and scattering cancellation cloaking. One application of cloaking is to use scattering cancellation to decouple two antennas that are placed too closely together such as in …
How Awareness Levels Of Environmental And Ethical Risks Affect Consumer's Perceptions Of Fast Fashion, Antonina Stragapede
How Awareness Levels Of Environmental And Ethical Risks Affect Consumer's Perceptions Of Fast Fashion, Antonina Stragapede
Honors Theses
The fast fashion industry is known for its low prices, quick inventory, and its ability to keep up with runway styles. Yet, the amount of risk that comes along with their processes has been kept hidden. The lenient policies in international countries have given the fast fashion industry leverage to create tons of dangerous carbon emissions, as well as keep labor at an inhumane level. The point of our study was to try to create awareness of both ethical and environmental risks through a randomly distributed intervention. Participants were also encouraged to take part in our longitudinal study to determine …

The Greek Advantage: Implications Of Greek Affiliation On Student Government At The University Of Mississippi, Lila Osman
Honors Theses
Greek life is a prominent group at the University of Mississippi, especially when it comes to membership in the Associated Student Body (ASB). ASB is the student governing body at the University so it is important to analyze its membership to understand how reflective it is of the entire university campus it represents. This research answers the question: “How and to what extent does Greek affiliation affect candidates for student government at the University of Mississippi?” Through two mixed methods surveys, one sent to members elected to ASB in the spring 2022 election cycle and the other to the general …
De Novo Design Of Artificial Cu Peptide For Substrate Oxidation And An Electrochemical Approach To Determine Reorganization Energy, Morgan Murphy
De Novo Design Of Artificial Cu Peptide For Substrate Oxidation And An Electrochemical Approach To Determine Reorganization Energy, Morgan Murphy
Honors Theses
Copper enzymes are found in nature. Their mechanisms and properties are unknown, as spectroscopy is limited. By creating artificially designed copper peptides through de novo design, the behavior, characteristics, and spectroscopy of copper enzymes can be studied to enhance understanding of the mechanisms involved with enzyme catalysis. Design, synthesis, purification, and characterization are completed to create a quality peptide mutant that can be studied to learn about natural enzymes. This plays an important role in pharmaceutical research, renewable energy sourcing, and studies of biological processes in the body. In this study, 3SCC de novo peptide is mutated at different positions, …
Determining The Effect Of Cuff Deflation On Post-Exercise Arterial Occlusion Pressure, John Benton
Determining The Effect Of Cuff Deflation On Post-Exercise Arterial Occlusion Pressure, John Benton
Honors Theses
While it is recommended that blood flow restriction be applied relative to pre-exercise arterial occlusion pressure (AOP), no guidelines exist for an initial rest period prior to the measurement. Remeasuring AOP post-exercise can be used to estimate the cardiovascular response. When measuring post-exercise (pre-) AOP, different methods could be used. Some increase the cuff pressure from blood flow restriction exercise pressure (without deflation), or deflate the cuff prior to post-exercise (post-) AOP measurement. It is unknown if pre-AOP is affected by initial rest period, or if post- AOP is affected by cuff deflation. Thus, the purpose of this study was …

Identification Of Signal Transducers In Plant Shoot Gravitropism Using Genetic Screens, Lilla Reed
Identification Of Signal Transducers In Plant Shoot Gravitropism Using Genetic Screens, Lilla Reed
Honors Theses
Gravitropism is an essential response for plant growth and architecture. The signal transduction pathway that links gravity sensing to gravity response remains unclear because the key signal transducers involved in this pathway are unknown. In this project, we applied an artificial microRNA(amiRNA)-assisted genetic screen in isolating mutants displaying altered gravitropic phenotype in the darkness. Two amiRNA lines showed a significantly decreased gravitropic phenotype in the hypocotyl, and amiRNAs in these lines were identified to target a hypothetical transmembrane protein and a receptor kinase, respectively. Further experiments need to be done to confirm their phenotypes and establish them as signal transducers …

The team had to research the concept, create an initial design, create a prototype of the product, improve the design after the prototype’s mistakes, apply lean principles to improve the manufacturing efficiency, and analyze all the economic impacts of the engineering decisions. In the …
The Association Between Sleep And Relationship Quality Among Undergraduate Students, Catherine Smith
The Association Between Sleep And Relationship Quality Among Undergraduate Students, Catherine Smith
Honors Theses
This study sought out to examine the association between sleep and relationship quality in undergraduate student populations. Attending university is a novel experience for emerging adults but is subsequently associated with increased sleep difficulties and increased exposure to various social relationships. Indeed, the literature suggests social relationships can influence sleep in all populations, but few have explored relationship quality in the context of conflict and support in undergraduates. The quality of different social relationships (romantic, family, and friend), the severity of insomnia symptoms, and length of sleep duration were investigated. The current study collected data from a sample of ten …
