LNT is an education program designed to teach stewardship, land ethics and outdoor recreation skills that protect shared resources. The LNT Awareness Workshop is a 30-minute intervention which is designed to introduce these ideas within these time constraints to diverse populations. This study examined the effects of the Workshop presentation on university undergraduate students as it concerned their attitudes and knowledge of outdoor ethics and LNT. Analysis Of Publishing Patterns In Accounting History Research In Italy, 1990-2004, Lino Cinquini, Alessandro Marelli, Andrea Tenucci
Accounting Historians Journal
In the last decade, an increasing number of analyses of accounting history literature have been undertaken to classify historical research paths and to map the variety of approaches and issues of the discipline in different geographical settings so as to make international comparisons. The paper develops these topics in the Italian context by studying the development of accounting history research (AHR) in the last 15 years. Contributions by Italian authors have been published in international and national specialist journals as well as in more general accounting journals. Other papers have been presented and published in the proceedings of the biannual …

Ledger Of Ann Dewitt Bevier (1762-1834), Early American Estate Manager And Mother, Sally M. Schultz, Joan Hollister
Accounting Historians Journal
The ledger that Ann DeWitt Bevier kept from 1802 until 1813 represents a rich primary source that provides perspective on how a rural agriculturalist and household head interacted with the social and cultural environment in the young American nation. Her accounting records expand the gendered history of economic life by illustrating the life and work of a woman who managed a farm, famÂÂily household, brick kiln, rental property, and investments in financial instruments. The costs of educating her children were also detailed in the ledger, helping to inform us about the educational opportunities for females in early America.

An Bhuil Gaeilge Agat?: Perspectives On The Irish Language In Ireland, Georgia Katherine Fyke
Honors Theses
The future of Irish as a living language is uncertain, and some fear it will vanish completely. In this paper I explore how the main language of Ireland shifted from Irish to English and discuss the perspectives of the Irish themselves toward the Irish language. Chapter 1 summarizes the history of the language from its introduction to the island by the earliest Celts to its current secondary role. Chapter 2 reviews the concepts of language death and revitalization both generally and as they apply to Irish, using models by David Crystal and Joshua Fishman. The final chapter is an analysis …

Uncovering The Hidden Dimensions Of Rural Disaster Mitigation: Capacity Building Through Community Emergency Response Teams, M. A. Brennan, Courtney G. Flint
Journal of Rural Social Sciences
The increasing magnitude of hurricane damage in the southern United States in recent years, capped off by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, highlights the reality that local people and communities are often the first responders to crisis or disaster. Driven by policy and necessity, rural communities find themselves taking on more responsibility in preparing for and resolving local crises and emergencies. Locally-based Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) are teams of local volunteers, trained to aid in disaster preparation, provide first aid, and contribute other assistance during emergency situations. Focusing on the southern United States, this article explores the rural/urban distribution of …
