Digital Storytelling: Do Multimodal Choices Influence Audience Persuasion?, Caitlin E. White

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

This study examined how effective a personal narrative digital story is in terms of persuasion through the use of an experiment involving two digital stories. The human communication theory of narrative paradigm and research on the field of digital storytelling were used to provide rationale for the study's hypotheses. The study explored how effective and persuasive multimedia digital stories are compared to the script of the digital stories. Results of the research were insignificant and did not support the hypotheses, as the sample did not find the multimedia stories more effective and persuasive than the scripts of the digital stories.

Only Brazilian newspapers in the coverage of the FIFA World Cup provided extensive non-national coverage of the events. This study advances the …

"Legless Birds": A Re-Examination Of The Motivating Factors Behind Hieroglyphic "Mutilation", Ashley R. Stanton

It has often been assumed that the "mutilation" of animate hieroglyphic signs in ancient Egypt was meant to protect the deceased from harm in a tomb context. Using a semiotic perspective, this study will encourage a re-evaluation of this dominant explanation. The Egyptian hieroglyph can be interpreted on both iconic and symbolic levels, making a unilateral reading of any given sign unlikely. This study will examine the "mutilation" of bird-signs in the late Middle Kingdom and …
