Drugs And The Performance Horse, Thomas Tobin
Drugs And The Performance Horse, Thomas Tobin
Veterinary Science Books
This book presents an unprecedented account of the actions, effects and consequences of drug use in performance horses. Written for horsemen by a veterinarian and world authority on equine drugs, it deals with all classes, types, and uses of drugs. Professor Tobin describes how the drugs act, how they influence performance, and the problems they may cause. He explains the drug testing process and presents the best information available on the clearance times for drugs in horses. The text is written in plain language and with a touch of humor.

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Faculty Publications
A computer model has been developed to analyze alternate management strategies and energy and economic constraints. Daily production of beef animals and growing crops is simulated in response to prevailing conditions and system interactions using the GASP IV simulation language. Complete inventories of plant dry matter, animal status, production resources and economic net worth are maintained over the simulation period.
Regulation Of Hazardous Waste Disposal On Agricultural Land, Joseph L. Taraba
Regulation Of Hazardous Waste Disposal On Agricultural Land, Joseph L. Taraba
Agricultural Engineering Extension Updates
In the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Division of Waste Management (DWM) of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (DNP & EP) has the responsibility of regulating the hazardous waste program. A policy statement from the DWM was issued on June 9, 1981, concerning wastes generated from agricultural operations, i.e., farming. In summary, the statutory definition of a hazardous waste does not apply to animal manures and crop residues that are returned to the soil as a fertilizer or as a soil conditioner. Further, it states a hazardous waste shall not apply to pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers or their …

Quality Of Surface Water In Bell County, Kentucky, Robert B. Cook Jr., Reese E. Mallette
Quality Of Surface Water In Bell County, Kentucky, Robert B. Cook Jr., Reese E. Mallette
Information Circular--KGS
Reconnaissance data for surface waters in Bell County, Kentucky, have been gathered in response to the anticipated need for baseline information related to Federal and State surface-mining regulations. Bell County is particularly well suited for such a study due to past and current coal mining, the widespread distribution of mining and diversity of stratigraphic units affected, the diverse array of both disturbed and undisturbed drainage basins, and the relative ease of access within the county.
Estimated flow rate, temperature, pH, conductivity, and concentration of iron, manganese, and suspended solids were determined for flowing waters collected at 71 scattered sites. Sample …

Putting The Genie Back Into The Bottle: U.S. Controls Over Sensitive Nuclear Technology, Richard C. Ausness
Putting The Genie Back Into The Bottle: U.S. Controls Over Sensitive Nuclear Technology, Richard C. Ausness
Law Faculty Scholarly Articles
The linkage between the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and weapons development is a complex one; therefore, this article presents both sensitive nuclear technology and the nature of nuclear proliferation in some detail before proceeding to a critique of the current American policy. Accordingly, Part II describes causes of proliferation, uranium enrichment and fuel reprocessing technology, and nuclear proliferation pathways. Part III examines the international safeguards regime, including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Nuclear Suppliers’ Guidelines. Part IV summarizes the statutory basis for the current U.S. policy, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act of 1978, while Part V evaluates this policy …

An Avoidance Response Bioassay For Aquatic Pollutants, Jeffrey A. Black, Wesley J. Birge
An Avoidance Response Bioassay For Aquatic Pollutants, Jeffrey A. Black, Wesley J. Birge
KWRRI Research Reports
Avoidance response bioassays were conducted with eight aquatic contaminants, including cadmium, copper, mercury, zinc, chloroform, dioctyl phthalate (DOP), trisodium nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), and phenol. Tests were performed in a dual-channel fluviarium system, and the toxicant injection procedure used provided good regulation of exposure concentrations. Juvenile stages of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus), and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri), and tadpoles of the American toad (Bufo americanus) proved to be suitable animals for evaluating avoidance or attraction responses. The trout was the most sensitive species tested.
Avoidance was significant in tests …
