Clichés — Let’S Throw Them Under The Bus, Ann Green
Clichés — Let’S Throw Them Under The Bus, Ann Green
Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop Blog
Recently I read an article in which a mother gushed about how a school play enabled her child's class to "be part of something bigger than themselves." Allergic to clichés, I turned to my husband and mused, "Maybe I should try to become part of something smaller than myself - but I guess I wouldn't fit."

I had the perfect solution for my trip to New York City, the bus. Minimal driving, maximum writing/staring out the window pretending that I was in a really deep movie about finding yourself. Plus it came with a reasonable price tag. Done and done. Until the ride home, when I become certifiably undone.

For grownups, making money can be like pulling teeth. Kids have it so much better because they don't have to pay to have a tooth extracted. They can just wait for it to fall out. Then they can go to sleep and count on the Tooth Fairy to leave them money, which not only saves them the trouble of going to work and actually earning it, but eliminates service fees because the moola can go straight into their piggy banks.

Bienvenue Press has published She's A Keeper! Cockamamie Memoirs from a Hot Southern Mess, the latest book in Lee St. John's She's A Keeper! series. A self-described "unapologetic rogue Southern Belle, high-jinx expert and mayhem confessor," St. John rats out former presidents, the Mafia, famous people - dead and alive - AND her own friends and family in her humorous book.

Well, I did it again. Doesn't every guy? I answered the door and frightened the FedEx man out of his skin. Over the years, I've sent many a stranger at my door howling away in terror. Duh, I keep forgetting that I've applied my beard dye, turning my face into a very scary sight.

I bought a dress online, a long black summer dress that I thought would make me look earthy and graceful. Dresses are foreign to me but I keep trying, like all the years I kept going back to Spanish classes thinking this next time I would become completely bilingual. Buenos dias! The dress, so chic and classy in the photo, could double as an emergency tent. It's that voluminous and heavy. Maybe it's water repellent, I don't know.
