For those of you who are fortunate enough to have never been to a Bikram Yoga class, let me explain to you what it is. Bikram Yoga is a supposed beginner's level yoga class with 26 stances - or more aptly, pretzel shapes- conducted in bright, fluorescent lighting, at a recommended temperature of 105 degrees. That's right, one hundred five. Degrees. Fahrenheit. 1-0-5.

President Donald Trump awarded his first ever Presidential Medals of Freedom this month to seven recipients: Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, Antonin Scalia, Orrin Hatch, Roger Staubach, Alan Page and Miriam Adelson. It is the nation’s highest civilian honor.

These ceremonies, which normally occur once or twice per year, provide Americans with an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of various people who have made an important contribution to U.S. culture. Because the president selects recipients with total discretion – American or otherwise, living or dead –- this award also says a lot about the president himself.

My favorite session was hosted by Alan Zweibel, an author, producer and former Saturday Night Live writer. I jotted down notes feverishly because I knew I wanted to remember his advice and perspective, like this point, "As a writer what you remember is not the product but the process." He told the workshop attendees, "The victory is in writing it."
