This past summer, Claire and Carter worked on a team with two other University of Dayton students, Ryan Martini and Eric Sheffield, at an organization in Quito, Ecuador, named Engineers in Action (FIEA). The team also worked with three students from a similar program from the University of Notre Dame. FIEA coordinates around 12 projects in different parts of Ecuador. The teams focused on two sites in particular, one in Pastocalle, and one in San Ramon.
The Pastocalle project’s goal was to bring drinking water to a newly built school. The team dug a trench to connect the main water …

This past summer, Victoria travelled to Bangalore, India to work with SELCO Foundation on a couple different projects. Bangalore is the capital to the southern state of Karnataka in India and holds the name of the technology hub of India. India has a wide variety of cultures, religions, and languages that vary state to state. Bangalore is fairly western in their ideals while still holding on to the rich culture India preserves. SELCO is a non-governmental organization (NGO), focusing on solar applications to better the lives of various communities in India. They strive to make an impact in developing section …

Traveling to Sangiro, Malawi, Lindsey Weisman and Baylor Johnson worked with local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO): Determined to Develop (D2D). Founded by University of Dayton Alumni Matthew Maroon D2D seeks to empower youth through education. One means of achieving such is the continual development of the school complex they founded Wasambo Schools. The ETHOS Immersion Team this summer developed a campus masterplan for All Boys, All Girls, and Technical School on the same site.
