COVID-19 Graphic Design: Data Visualization and Information Design
Inspired by the Russian Constructivism movement over 100 years ago, this piece pays homage to the parallels that exist in 2020 and that we are still grappling with in our society. The Russian Revolution of the 1920s brought a philosophy and design movement that was aimed to reflect modern industrial society and urban spaces that favored art, design, and architecture for practical and social purposes. The movement’s design was based on construction from products of society or what was in the studio, home, or office. The modern-day feeling of unrest and contempt for not having enough resources to survive living …

Over its 170 years, the University of Dayton has transformed and persevered. We were founded by four Marianist brothers in the middle of a cholera epidemic. We experienced the Great Dayton Flood of 1913 and the flu pandemic of 1918, two events that forced the campus, then known as Saint Mary’s College, to temporarily close. We’ve seen students and staff go to war, and weathered economic depressions and downturns with the Dayton community

Proceedings: 2020 Global Voices on the University of Dayton Campus
Markers of pointed challenges to global understanding, relationship building across national boundaries, and development of resilient intercultural competencies abound. Each day, we are confronted with news of geopolitical conflict and violence, news of resurgent ethnocentric nationalisms, news of fear about cross-cultural contact and engagement, and signs of entrenched, willful ignorance about so many of the rich traditions, values, languages, and frameworks of meaning-making that shape the experience of the human family across the globe. As profoundly disturbing as these and related challenges are, it is vitally important for our educational and scholarly work as students, faculty, and staff that we …

To say that the quarantine has been hair-raising would be the unkindest cut of all. I know this because I hadn't had a haircut in a month and a half and was starting to look like Medusa, the mythical monster with snakes coming out of her head, so I risked shear hell and gave myself a trim.

With the advancement of technology, there is a growing need of classifying malware programs that could potentially harm any computer system and/or smaller devices. In this research, an ensemble classification system comprising convolutional and recurrent neural networks is proposed to distinguish malware programs. Microsoft's Malware Classification Challenge (BIG 2015) dataset with nine distinct classes is utilized for this study. This dataset contains an assembly file and a compiled file for each malware program. Compiled files are visualized as images and are classified using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Assembly files consist of machine language opcodes that are distinguished among classes using …
