University of Dayton student yearbook. Early yearbooks cover St. Mary's Institute. Annual publication of the Daytonian began in 1923; it was not published in 1929, 1932-1934 and 1944. Short volumes highlighting the graduating class were published in 1930, 1931 and 1945 under different titles.

This poster, illustrated by E. Matania, provides a brief review of the London Opera House production of Le Jongleur de Notre Dame, by French opera composer Jules Massenet (1842-1912), printed in The Sphere, a British newspaper. Massenet based the opera upon Anatole France’s story by the same name, and the opera’s French libretto was written by Maurice Léna (1859-1928). While Massenet original intended the main juggler’s part as a tenor, the London Opera House’s production starred Victoria Fer. Fer’s performance was part of a shift towards women taking up the role, which according to some sources upset the composer. …

The Rosary (Le Rosaire, Der Rosenkranz), Ethelbert Nevin, Robert Rogers, Carl Engel, C. Eschig
Marian Sheet Music
Arrangement for solo mezzo-soprano or baritone voice with piano accompaniment of Ethelbert Nevin's popular hymn "The Rosary," with French and German translations of the lyrics. The lyrics were written by Robert Cameron Rogers, with the French translation by C. Eschig and German translation by Carl Engel. The song premiered in 1898. By 1928 it had sold over 2.6 million copies, making it one of the best selling pieces of sheet music of the period.
