Qualitative research surrounding perceptions of reality influence human experience. Since qualitative research is grounded in theoretical perspectives and epistemologies that value human experience as knowledge and embrace identity and cultural awareness (Hollingsworth & Dybdahl, 2007), qualitative methods in education research can have an endless capacity for abolishing social inequities.

I have experience teaching research methods courses. My goal is to challenge students to become agents of social justice. I encourage students to question the methods we employ and seek solutions that are necessary for combatting injustices. The COVID-19 pandemic presents significant challenges due to its high transmissibility and mortality risk. Traditional diagnostic methods, such as RT-PCR, have limitations that hinder timely and accurate screening. In response, AI-powered computer-aided imaging analysis techniques have emerged as a promising alternative for COVID-19 diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that combines the strengths of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Vision Transformer (ViT) to enhance the performance of COVID-19 diagnosis models. CNN excels at capturing spatial features in medical images, while ViT leverages self-attention mechanisms inspired by human radiologists. Hyperproperties extend trace properties to express properties of sets of traces, and they are increasingly popular in specifying various security and performance-related properties in domains such as cyber-physical systems, smart grids, and automotive. This paper introduces HyperTWTL, which extends Time Window Temporal Logic (TWTL)-a domain-specific formal specification language for robotics, by allowing explicit and simultaneous quantification over multiple execution traces. We propose two different semantics for HyperTWTL, synchronous and asynchronous, based on the alignment of the timestamps in the traces. Consequently, we demonstrate the application of HyperTWTL in formalizing important information-flow security policies and concurrency for robotics applications. Furthermore, we …

Anomaly detection plays an increasingly important role in video surveillance and is one of the issues that have attracted various communities, such as computer vision, machine learning, and data mining in recent years. Moreover, drones equipped with cameras have quickly been deployed to a wide range of applications, starting from border security applications to street monitoring systems. Revolutionary Songs From Myanmar: Reconsidering Scholarly Perspectives On Protest Music, Heather Maclachlan

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup in Myanmar, Burmese musicians have been creating and circulating anti- coup songs. This article describes a representative sample of these songs, explaining how the lyrics reference important tropes in Burmese life and history. Further, the article argues that these anti-coup songs, while they can be understood as protest music, do not fit precisely into categories previously delineated for protest songs. Nor do these songs provide a neat answer to the question that scholars so often pose of protest music, to wit: do these songs work to persuade listeners to take an anti-authoritarian position? …

Preparation, Cure, And Characterization Of Cyanate Ester-Epoxy Blends Containing Reactive Flame Retardants, Mustafa Mukhtar, Donald A. Klosterman

Cyanate ester resins are sometimes mixed with lower cost epoxy monomers to modify cost, toughness, and processing capabilities. Despite the high performance of these thermosetting polymers, flame retardancy remains an issue. This study examined blends of three different commercial cyanate ester monomers (LVT-100, LECy, and XU-71787.02) and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) at 50/50 wt% of each type. The blends were successfully reacted with two reactive flame retardants (FR): 9,10-dihydro-9-ox-9-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) and poly(m-phenylene methylphosphonate) (PMP) at phosphorus contents ranging from 0 to 3 wt%. The curing behavior of EP/CE blends was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was …

BACKGROUND: Care coordination aligns services and optimizes outcomes for children with traumatic brain injury (TBI), yet numerous obstacles can impede effective care coordination following a TBI.

OBJECTIVE: The goal of this work is to identify barriers and facilitators to care coordination from the perspective of individuals who care for young people impacted by TBI.

METHODS: Twenty-one care providers participated in semi-structured interviews to gather their perspectives on systems of care coordination for youth with TBI and potential areas for improvement. Using reflexive thematic analysis, researchers identified key themes across interviews.

RESULTS: Three themes were identified: 1) gaps in knowledge; 2) …

In July 1915, after hearing Jane Addams speak in London on her efforts for peace during wartime, Bertrand Russell wrote to an American friend, “You can gather what I think and feel by talking to Miss Addams. She seemed to me to have exactly the same outlook as I have.” In this paper I compare how Russell and Addams used the era’s scientific theories in formulating their pacifism. After recounting Addams’s and Russell’s experiences during the war, I show how Addams and Russell accounted for civilization’s “descent into barbarism” in parallel ways. This case study describes an academic library’s student-developed communal space for the purposes of creating, collaborating, and project development. The story begins with an exciting process and partnership developed between University of Dayton (UD) Libraries and UD’s Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT). An IACT experiential learning program led 12 students to research and reimagine the role of the campus library, which resulted in Concourse D, “where projects take flight,” a prototyped transdisciplinary project development studio. This report presents findings from an environmental assessment of multiple amusement parks across North America. The assessment aimed to identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and water usage. Key findings include: two-thirds of total emissions come from off-site energy generation, significant energy savings potential during off-season periods, variation in energy intensity across locations, and a strong correlation between cooling degree days and energy consumption at one location. Recommendations include reducing electrical consumption, purchasing green energy, installing on-site renewable energy, replacing fossil fuel equipment with cleaner alternatives, and implementing water conservation measures. For many Christians around the world, celebrating the Nativity, or the birth of Jesus Christ, is the most important part of the Christmas season.

Among the most common Christmas traditions are small sets of figures depicting Joseph, Mary and Jesus that are displayed in individual homes, and live reenactments of the manger scene in communities and churches. While Nativity sets focus on the holy family, they can also include an angel, the three wise men bringing gifts, shepherds or some barnyard animals.
