Improving Functional Electrical Stimulation Prescription For Persons With Multiple Sclerosis: A Case Series, Kurt Jackson

Purpose: Despite a growing body of evidence supporting the use of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in persons with MS (PwMS), prescription remains a highly individualized process with no well-established guidelines for assessing the immediate or long-term effects to ensure maximum benefit.  The purpose of this case series was to assess the feasibility and benefits of using wearable sensors and video analysis to provide immediate feedback on gait performance, when using lower leg and thigh stimulation individually or in combination, to improve FES prescription.

Subjects: 3 adults with multiple sclerosis (MS) with varying levels of gait dysfunction.

This study examines how immersive experiential learning at Barretstown, a therapeutic camp in Ireland, nurtures intellectual, ethical, and spiritual growth in preservice teachers. Framed by William James’ four characteristics of mystical experience — ineffability, noetic quality, transiency, and passivity — and grounded in the Marianist philosophy of education, the research employs a qualitative, phenomenological design. Reflective narratives from three teacher candidates were thematically coded, revealing transformative experiences marked by ineffable joy, revelatory insight, enduring impact, and openness to grace. Findings suggest that experiential learning integrated with spiritual and communal formation cultivates educators grounded in empathy, moral awareness, and authentic presence.

Exploring The Impact Of Generative Ai On Curriculum Design And Instruction: A Study With Preservice Teachers, Lindsay A. Gold, Vanessa Winn, Jackie M. Arnold

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is transforming education by reshaping curriculum design, individualized learning, and professional collaboration. This interpretive study examines how 70 preservice teachers engaged with GenAI through structured learning experiences focused on lesson planning, content development, and reflective practice. Participants, all fourth-year PK–Grade 5 and intervention specialist candidates at the University of Dayton, completed a co-taught seminar led by methods professors in science, social studies, language arts, and mathematics. Data sources included initial reflections on GenAI’s role in education, documentation of prompt exploration, and ongoing reflections during the seminar. Magnetic cellulose nanocrystal (MCNC) nanocomposites are promising sustainable and biocompatible platforms for magnetic hyperthermia; however, the molecular mechanisms governing Fe3O4 adsorption and deposition onto CNCs remain poorly understood. Here, sulfated (S-CNC) and TEMPO-oxidized CNCs (T-CNC) were used to prepare nanocomposites at 1:2 and 1:4 CNC:Fe3O4 mass ratios, enabling a systematic evaluation of how surface chemistry and nanoparticle loading dictate interfacial interactions and magneto-colloidal behavior. Bare magnetite nanoparticles were 21 ± 5 nm by TEM but grew to 144 ± 18 in the DLS measurement at pH 7. The S-CNC nanocomposites had hydrodynamic sizes between 144 and 210 nm, not much …

The book Impact Networks by David Erlichman, published in 2021, provides a comprehensive picture of how impact networks are working throughout the world on complex issues. Such networks move beyond hierarchical structures that are based on authority. Organizations within networks share at least one purpose and define their success as network participants based on their impact on the network issue, not on agency growth.

The president holds both a veto power and enforcement power by nature of his position. Traditionally, the veto power has been understood as temporally limited—the president gets one shot to use it with respect to a particular bill. On the flip side, the enforcement power is a continuing one—the president has ongoing discretion to enforce the law in the way he believes to be necessary. Far from being distinct powers, however, the enforcement power can be transformed into a “continuing veto power” wherein the president can use his enforcement discretion to nullify particular statutes or applications of statutes that he …

In recent years, the United States Supreme Court has issued several decisions that limit judicial deference to administrative agencies. This has been accomplished by developing the “major questions doctrine” and overruling the long-standing Chevron doctrine in a series of 6-3 decisions in which the justices were divided along ideological lines. Commentary and scholarship on this trend have focused on what is being described as “new” formalism, but we argue that these cases should be viewed as more of an extension of the Court's formalism jurisprudence in legislative process separation of powers disputes from the 1980s and 1990s.
