My Cup Runneth Over …, Donna Fentanes

Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop Blog

Well, today is my birthday. Here I am on the cusp of 60. One of my first columns the Pacifica Tribune ran was titled "You'll Never Be This Young Again". It was a little reflection upon my imminent fifties. Like that column, this blog is a reflection as I now approach the big 6-0. I woke up early this morning, had a weird dream and couldn't go back to sleep. Maybe I was excited like when one gets on the night before the first day of school or Christmas Eve or one's birthday, if you will. So with some extra …

You know, I wasn't even supposed to be here. The only reason I am is because my son has an abysmal diaper rash-I've heard probiotics are helpful, so I'm hunting for a brand of yogurt he'll actually eat. Oh, and probiotic drops, of which they're out. So while I'm standing in line on my phone ordering said drops off Amazon and thinking of something else I can buy to add up to the $35 required for free shipping, I happen to glance up and see you in front of me.

#1 - Ucwa Threatens To Turn All Politicians Into Laughing Stocks If They Don’T Support Their Agenda, Ed Toolis

Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop Blog

For decades now, the Union of Comedy Writers and Actors has worked tirelessly to elect someone to Congress to advance our agenda, so we can finally prove to the world how incredible we are. So when the perfect political candidate came along, Al Franken, we naturally poured tens of thousands of jokes, made at his opponent's expense, into his campaign. And it worked! He came from behind to win by 331 votes. And even though the ungrateful so-and-so didn't show his appreciation by introducing our bill into Congress, we still gave it another go with his reelection. But since he …

The various “sectors” of archives and related professions, whether functional or institutional, increasingly diverge from each other in priorities, strategies, and constituencies. For the archivist or records manager changing positions across sectors, however, an opportunity exists to bring skills and insights learned in previous field(s) to transform the work being done in these new places. Cross-sector experiences also give archivists and records managers an opportunity to reflect on how their transitions have transformed their outlook on the profession as a whole, and their role within it. In this lightning round session, eight archivists will share how prior experience in a …
