If you happen to be watching the next Oscars telecast, don't be surprised if you see me up on the stage, holding a golden statuette, thanking the Academy, joking with Steven Spielberg and, in my best Sally Field voice, crying, "You like me! You really like me!" Even though I can't leave the house during this pandemic to do much more than take out the garbage, I've gone Hollywood.

Dance is good because it expresses human nature – it’s not just fun, although it is certainly fun. It’s not just exercise, either.
At its best, dance is an extension and expression of who we are as human beings in ways that can allow us to share emotions that increase our sense of community and connection. This is why, in good times and bad, in times of war, slavery, fleeing homelands and during pandemics, kids still bounce, leap and spin.

Less dedicated filmmakers might have shelved their project in the midst of a pandemic, but not these media production students who finished editing "Dayton's Darkest Summer: The Rise From Tragedy" remotely and premiered it not in a theatre but in a Zoom room. People are freaking out at the possibility that one day artificial intelligence (AI) will take away so many jobs done by humans, and become so smart, that it will threaten the livelihoods and quality of lives of human beings. Some people fear AI will become so smart that people will be stupid by comparison. Scary thought, indeed. But there's a way for people to fight this battle. The idea is to confuse and play mind games with AI.

Part of our crazy new quarantine world involves sharing on social media the chronicles of our "new normal" lives. Friends admit their hair has reverted to a color they haven't seen since 2011. For years, countless people, many of whom I can't count on, have told me to take a hike. Now that we've been quarantined in a house where social distancing is impossible, unless you stay in the bathroom all day, my wife, Sue, has been telling me to take one, too. So I recently went on what I thought would be a leisurely stroll with her and almost ended up being a dead man walking.

Solar energy is a key renewable energy source; however, its intermittent nature and potential for use in distributed systems make power prediction an important aspect of grid integration. This research analyzed a variety of machine learning techniques to predict power output for horizontal solar panels using 14 months of data collected from 12 northern-hemisphere locations. We performed our data collection and analysis in the absence of irradiation data-an approach not commonly found in prior literature. Using latitude, month, hour, ambient temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed, and cloud ceiling as independent variables, a distributed random forest regression algorithm modeled the combined …
