The Ideas Of Place: D.H. Lawrence's Travel Books, Donald Gutierrez
The Ideas Of Place: D.H. Lawrence's Travel Books, Donald Gutierrez
University of Dayton Review
Although the critical literature today about the novels of D. H. Lawrence is immense, his standing as a short-story writer very high, and his poetry hardly diminishing as an object of critical interest and appreciation, insufficient attention has been given to the travel books. This is a serious oversight, for Lawrence's travel writings represent an important component of his career. They are a pleasure to read — engagingly descriptive, vividly abtruse, and very human. What a bizarre privilege it is to be at the side of the author of The Rainbow and Women in Love as he reacts to a …

Introduction, William P. Frost
Introduction, William P. Frost
University of Dayton Review
Just in the final stages of preparing this publication, the Spring 1980 issue of Daedalus appeared. Its topic is "Intellect and Imagination." Excellent contributions come from professors of various disciplines, e.g., anthropology, biology, music, neurophysiology, aesthetics, and history. Such an interdisciplinary interest in imagination is the focus of our present UDR. The state of the arts is described in the introduction, "A Report on Studies of Religious Imagination." It mentions Kenneth Boulding and his book The Image as very influential in bringing together representatives of various disciplines in the general systems research. Of special interest to the introduction is the …

A Report On Studies Of Religious Imagination, William P. Frost
University of Dayton Review
History provides many records of the human fascination with images and imagination. For example, when the Hebrew people in their Exodus experienced numerous frustrations after Moses, their leader, had disappeared in a cloud on a mountain top, they melted the earrings of their wives and daughters and fashioned themselves a golden calf. The Bible reads, "Then they cried, 'This is your God, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt'" (Exodus 32:4).

Focus, April 1979, University Of Dayton
Focus
Focus, published by the University of Dayton public relations office from October 1967 to mid-1982, was called “a window of the University of Dayton.” The number of issues per year varied over time from four to nine. It was mailed to faculty and staff; parents of current students; benefactors; and business and industry partners. Its content was duplicated in another publication, Alumnus, which contained additional pages of interest to alumni, including a robust listing of personal updates known as class notes — a popular section of every alumni publication since.
In August 1982, Focus and Alumnus merged into one publication, …
