The vibrational behavior of bladed disks, or blisks, is highly sensitive to variations in its cyclic symmetry due to variations in mass, stiffness, damping, or a combination of these factors. These inconsistencies can arise from manufacturing tolerance inconsistencies, operational wear, impacts during usage, and intentional mistuning. This thesis develops an analysis of the sensitivity of both tuned and intentionally mistuned blisks to random mistuning in their structural properties. Sobol sampling combined with state-space eigen-analysis is utilized to develop a set of randomly mistuned systems. This thesis is devoted to the development of the model for total molecular photoionization spectra which is general to diatomic molecules and the application of this model to two benchmark systems, CH and N2, for verification. This model combines multi-channel quantum defect theory, first-principles ab initio molecular calculations, and vibrational frame transformation to accurately model molecular photoionization and electron impact including vibrational dynamics. Human emotional responses to weapons have long been assumed to be relatively parsimonious, comprised predominately of aggression, anxiety, and fear responses. However, most research on this weapons effect has focused on civilians – who are notably more likely to be targeted by than to employ weapons. So, there is reason to speculate that emotional responses to weapons vary more than previously believed. This is significant for three reasons. Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy In A 55-Year-Old Female With Atypical Chest Pain And A History Of Autoimmune Disease, Carrie Greene, Dana Mathew

A 55-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis and supraventricular tachycardia presented with acute chest pain radiating to the back/left shoulder, with nausea and lightheadedness. Initial ECG showed inferior–lateral ST-segment elevation with reciprocal depressions; within 90 minutes the STE resolved with new incomplete RBBB and diffuse low voltage. High-sensitivity troponin rose (delta ~270 ng/L). Point-of-care and formal echocardiography revealed LV wall-motion abnormalities. Emergent catheterization showed no obstructive CAD (<30% distal OM) with apical ballooning and EF 40–45%, consistent with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy; cardiac MRI confirmed myocardial edema. She was managed with anticoagulation initially, telemetry, and supportive care, and recovered uneventfully with normalization of function on follow-up.

Hemiballismus is a rare hyperkinetic movement disorder characterized by involuntary, large amplitude flinging movements. We present the case of a 61-year-old male with multiple comorbidities who arrived at the emergency department with acute-onset hemiballismus of the left upper extremity, ultimately found to be secondary to a right middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarct.
