Coding With Duplicate Program Reviews: An Administrator's Guide, Corwin P. King Aug 1988

Coding With Duplicate Program Reviews: An Administrator's Guide, Corwin P. King

Association for Communication Administration Bulletin

The review, aimed at identifying potentially unnecessary programs, required institutions to provide extensive data on need, demand, quality, and productivity. The program at Central Washington University, judged vulnerable due to low enrollments and degree conferrals, was recommended for termination despite evidence of quality and relevance. After appeals and hearings, the university trustees deferred closure and eventually voted to continue the program, aided by changes in state oversight agencies. The discussion provides guidance for administrators facing similar reviews, …

A University Program For Speaking And Listening Across Disciplines, Robert O. Weiss

Association for Communication Administration Bulletin

The design included faculty training workshops, systematic student assessment, and the creation of a Speaking and Listening Center. Faculty across disciplines integrated oral communication into advanced courses, allowing students to demonstrate competencies such as audience adaptation, critical listening, and effective delivery. Additional provisions included early evaluation of freshmen, counseling, and developmental opportunities for …

For four months (August -November) in 1987 whole -building moisture capacitance experiments were done on a townhouse in Cocoa, Florida. The experiments were designed to: 1. Observe the response of a building to imposed moisture flux 2. Determine the moisture storage capacity of the building and furnishings 3. Evaluate simple models designed to predict the response of room air humidity ration to pulses of moisture 4. Assess two innovative approaches to cooling (off-peak cooling and DESRAD) The results of the tests indicated that moisture storage in the furnishings is much greater than moisture storage in the air. The bare building …
