As computer printouts replace handwritten and typewritten information in a Medical Records department, it becomes more advantageous for the Registered Records Administrator (RRA) to learn how to interact with a computer terminal. Computer applications in the Medical Records field increase the availability and accessibility of patient information. The Medical Records System discussed in this paper has been adapted by the Medical Records department of the College of Health Sciences of the University of Central Florida as a tool for demonstrating the relationship between the computer and the successful management of medical records. The employee assistance program (EAP) concept in industry is defined and examined in this paper. Stress is defined and its impact on the individual and the organization is examined. The development of a preventative model of an EAP which utilizes stress management techniques to prevent human suffering and lost company time is discussed. One of the main purposes of this research report is to propose that individuals with "Type A" behavior patterns who are taught stress management techniques will have significantly lower scores on physiological measures, stress measures, role conflict and role ambiguity measures than those Type A individuals who …

Micro-Scale Hydropower For The Eighties, E. Beatriz Caicedo-Maddison

The objectives of this project are to show the feasibility of micro-hydropower and to provide adequate engineering data for those people who wish to design their own micro system. Nine case studies are reviewed and analyzed in an attempt to determine general design parameters. Comparative data for these studies comes from preliminary permit applications submitted to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Information on such topics as flow measurements, heads, generators and turbine technology are presented. Duration curves are explained with examples using data from a river found in Colombia, South America. Finally, a preliminary design of a micro-hydro facility is …

The Effect Of Ph On Methane Production From Dairy Cattle Manure, Mary G. Stafford

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The effects of pH upon methane production from anaerobic digestion of dairy cattle manure were investigated. One liter digesters were maintained by daily adjustment at the following pH levels: 7.6, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, and 5.0. After 33 weeks of incubation the working volume of the digesters was increased to 3 liters. Digesters were incubated on a rotary shaker at 37°C. Digesters were loaded at the desired volatile solids concentrations, without an inoculum, and maintained from day one by daily additions and withdrawals to achieve a 3 day retention time.
