A teleportal system which provides remote communication between at least two users. A projective display and video capture system provides video images to the users. The video system obtains and transmits 3D images which are stereoscopic to remote users. The projective display unit provides an augmented reality environment to each user and allows users to view, unobstructed, the other local users, and view a local site in which they are located. A screen transmits to the user the images generated by the projective display via a retro-reflective fabric upon which images are projected and reflected back to the users eyes.

Assuring Power In A Disaster And Providing Energy Security, Florida Solar Energy Center, William Young

FSEC Energy Research Center®

Daily use of a myriad of electrical and electronic devices has contributed to a steadily increasing dependence on electric power. The degree of importance of electricity is temporarily highlighted with any type of power outage, whether caused by a disaster as destructive as a Hurricane Andrew or as minor as an afternoon thunderstorm knocking down local utility lines. After September 11, terrorism added a new dimension to our definition of energy security. While the American public is dependent on utility providers to meet energy needs, it is the right and the responsibility of each citizen to become aware of energy …

Automatic Motion Modeling Of Rigid Bodies Using Collision Detection, Jannick Rolland, Yoahan Baillot Mar 2004

Automatic Motion Modeling Of Rigid Bodies Using Collision Detection, Jannick Rolland, Yoahan Baillot

UCF Patents

An algorithim for modeling the interaction of two colliding rigid objects. The algorithm allows the search of the optimal position and stabilization of two rigid objects when they are in contact due to a force pushing them against each other. The method does use mathematical integration and does not use any initial acceleration or speed conditioning for the results. The pushing direction can be changed at any time of the search for a correct specification. The moving solid is translated and rotated incrementally toward the equilibrium position and orientation in a non-natural way but leading to the same final attitude …
