Government Domination On Television Digital Migration Regulation In Indonesia, Feni Fasta, Ade Armando, Pinckey Triputra
JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA
This study aims to analyze the migration from analog television to digital television in Indonesia, which has been going on for more than a decade. One of them is the issue of multiplexing management rules. This multiplexing should be used for the benefit of the public because it uses public frequency. Researchers assume that there is government domination in determining policies that accommodate the interests of investors with significant capital and ignore the public interest, including the interests of small investors in the broadcasting industry. This study analyzes various regulations related to digital migration using critical policy analysis methods. The …

Diabetes, a leading cause of 6.7 million deaths in 2021, poses a significant challenge despite existing interventions. Non-adherence to treatment remains a barrier to diabetes management. However, a comprehensive instrument to assess medication adherence determinants in diabetes patients’ population in Indonesia with low-medium literacy levels and following the sociocultural characteristics of Indonesian society has been lacking. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a valid and reliable instrument for measuring medication adherence in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients based on the Borg and Gall model. Through the input of an expert panel, a valid and reliable instrument was developed, which …

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the workload for nurses directly handling COVID-19 patients and those working in non-COVID-19 zones. As the number of COVID-19 cases rises, nurses face psychological problems, including stress. This study aimed to determine the relationship between workload and stress levels in a non-COVID-19 zoning ward using a cross-sectional approach and Spearman’s correlation test conducted on 94 nurses at one hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia, selected through simple random sampling. The workload questionnaire with 15 items and the DASS 42 questionnaire were used to measure stress levels. The results indicated that most nurses (73.4%) experienced a heavy workload. …

Permainan Alegori Dalam Novel O Karya Eka Kurniawan, Indah Fadhilla
Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya
Fables typically attach human attributes to animal characters to convey moral messages and teachings, but a number of modern authors use animal characters in their literary works to criticize current sociocultural phenomena. One famous literary work that contains many forms of allegory about relationships between human and animal characters is O, a novel by Eka Kurniawan. Allegories in O are used to exhibit contradictions between humans and animals. Animal characters are presented as possessing human traits, bringing up the idea that animals can become ideal human beings (the concept of “being human”). Meanwhile, human characters are presented as possessing …

The Relaying Network In Free-Space Optical Communications Using Optical Amplifiers In Cascaded Configuration, Ucuk Darusalam, Arockia Bazil Raj, Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, Purnomo Sidi Priambodo, Eko Tjipto Rahardjo
Makara Journal of Technology
Optical relaying is the best technique to implement free-space optical (FSO) communications as a terrestrial platform. However, atmospheric turbulence (AT) limits the optical-propagation path length. In this study, the implementation of some optical amplifiers (OAs) in cascaded configuration, namely, erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, semiconductor OAs, and Raman amplifiers (RAs), are investigated through simulation. This study aims to search for the maximum link distance of an optical propagation and enhance the FSO performance caused by each configuration of OAs. The optical relaying network consists of three nodes, with each node designed with a space of several kilometers under the influence of AT. …

Permeability Prediction For Expansive Soil Based On Physical Properties Using Artificial Neural Networks, Ferry Fatnanta, Imam Suprayogi, Nicola Rabb Ranata, Soewignjo Agus Nugroho, Agus Ika Putra
Makara Journal of Technology
Permeability is a soil parameter related to the construction industry to understand the processes of infiltration, runoff, and settlement. The risk of testing errors is inevitable in permeability investigations, especially in expansive soils. Trial and error in permeability testing becomes difficult due to soils with small pore sizes and large shrinkage expansion. Several studies related to soil physical properties that affect permeability have been conducted. However, the correlation results obtained still have poor accuracy. Artificial neural networks (ANN) are machine learning systems that can change their structure to solve problems that are included in the system. The use of ANNs …

Along with the process of globalization, a perspective is needed to see an increasingly complex and heterogenous community. This article argues that the perspective of Social Network Analysis (SNA) can be a solution to see the ever-changing community. Using synchronic and diachronic approach before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, this article discusses how the dynamics of actors survive as elite capture in a community social network in the context of resource management. The case being studied was Kampung Laut community in Cilacap, Indonesia. Quantitative data on social networks before the pandemic served as the basis for ethnographic explanations on the …

Middle Power And Symbolic Power In Climate Change Negotiations: The Case Of Indonesia’S Strategy In The Katowice Climate Change Conference, Adam Pratama, Moch Faisal Karim
Global: Jurnal Politik Internasional
This article presents a fresh perspective on international climate change negotiations by shining a light on the often-ignored concept of symbolic power within the role of middle powers, an area where current literature largely emphasizes behavioral and functional aspects. Focusing on Indonesia's participation in the 2018 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland, the study explores how the nation adeptly wielded symbolic power to champion the concerns of developing nations. Through strategic utilization of language and identity, Indonesia underscored three crucial negotiation points: financial support, technological transfer, and capacity building—all essential for achieving the Paris Agreement …

Plastic is a significant portion of marine debris, ranging from 60% to 80%. Historically, ships have been a major contributor to plastic pollution in the ocean, followed by Indonesia, which is acknowledged as the second-largest originator. Global efforts to combat marine pollution, including plastic waste, have been undertaken through international agreements like MARPOL Annex V. This agreement has mandated countries to establish suitable port facilities for ship-generated wastes. However, an assessment of Indonesian ports indicated insufficient compliance with environmental management standards, particularly in waste handling. The current direct fee policy for waste disposal may disincentivize proper waste disposal by ship …

The issue under consideration is how the practice of dumping is viewed through the perspectives of business competition law and international trade law, as well as how the Indonesian Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) handles this issue. This article examines and analyzes the relationship between dumping behavior and business competition, as well as the authority with which institutions will handle predatory pricing caused by dumping behavior. The results of the analysis show that dumping is a violation of international trade law under the World Trade …

The Natuna waters have recently been a flashpoint between China and Indonesia as a result of China's vague claim of a nine dash line (9DL). It has caused a number of incidents and standoffs between legal enforcement agencies of both countries and sparked a diplomatic row.
This article explores how the ambiguous claim of a historic right/9DL was gradually introduced by China and then coercively applied in the Natuna waters. It also attempts to identify what China actually claims in the waters. It will then examine how Indonesia under the Jokowi administration responds to the claims, and elaborate what …

Most Investor-State projects involve significant capital investment, while recognizing the existence of acute risk factors. After making such investments, investors expect fiscal, regulatory, and political conditions to remain stable or favorable throughout the project's duration. However, due to the long-term nature of agreements, there have historically been significant disputes over differences in expectations versus reality. States may rapidly evolve their economies and interests, sometimes pushing for new deals seen as fairer to investors with changing circumstances. Stabilization clauses have traditionally been used by investors to protect their interests, but over time, such measures have weakened as they are perceived as …
