Indonesian Journal of International Law
To overcome the global climate change crisis, the Government of Indonesia (GoI) ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Paris Agreement on Climate Change on 22 April 2016, imposing quasi-legal obligations on contracting states to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) until 2030. As a contracting party of the Paris Agreement, Indonesia has submitted an Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (ENDC), increasing its GHG emission reduction target from 31.98 percent to 43.20 percent by 2030. Challenges In The Enforcement Of International Legal Framework Against Child Soldiering, Shedrack Ekpa, Daniel Friday Atidoga
Indonesian Journal of International Law
The war crime of child soldiering has contagiously blossomed, necessitating the application of several prohibitive legal standards for its extermination. As the impact of this heinous and atrocious crime soars, the multi-dimensional scope for the protection against child soldiering becomes more sternly entrenched. This article aims to interrogate this global and worrying phenomenon in the light of existing international legal framework. Alhough doctrinal in nature, this article relies on both primary and secondary sources of data. It was found that despite the high retinue of prohibitive norms as stipulated in various legal instruments, the war crime of child soldiering has …

Participatory Exhibitions As An Awareness-Raising Platform For Bird Window Collisions, Janina Carla Castro, Jelaine Gan, Nancy Longnecker
CSID Journal of Infrastructure Development
Bird window strikes pose a significant threat to avian populations in urban settings. Understanding public attitudes toward this issue is vital for communicating the problem and possible interventions, such as applying window stickers. Bird Window Strike Philippines, a citizen science initiative, has promoted awareness through online engagement and a public pop-up exhibition designed to leave a lasting impression and gather visitor feedback. The exhibition introduced Filipino audiences to bird-window collisions through educational and participatory elements, including interpretive panels, taxidermied bird specimens, and window models demonstrating prevention techniques. Its central message was: “Bird window strikes are a problem, and we can …

Diabetes is a common and rapidly spreading disease that affects 6.6% of the world’s population. Metformin hydrochloride (HCl) is an effective oral pharmacological treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients because of its capability to reduce glucose levels and the risk of hypoglycaemia. However, gastrointestinal sensitivities to this drug can cause diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and stomach ache. An alternative is controlled release technology by coating metformin with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and zinc-metal-organic framework (Zn-MOF) through the encapsulation method. Therefore, this study aimed to coat metformin formulations using CMC in a Zn-MOF to control release into the body and minimise …

A Great amount of anthropology literature regarding rituals might focus on the differentiation between the sacred and the formal in reviewing religious practice. However, this article tries to explore the perspective of the indigenous youth in seeing the non-formal aspect of ritual such as party aspects, joyfulness, and dimensions of affective-aesthetic satisfaction. With the methods of ethnographic fieldwork, through observation and interviews, we argue that indigenous youth in Kayaan Mendalaam, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, build their attachment towards adat ritual through various social practices rather than through formalistic commitment to ritual. This form of practice was the expression and …

The results indicate that 31 out of 36 analyzed destination countries enforce NTMs, with Vietnam imposing the most prevalent ones. Furthermore, SPS measures substantially promote the export of Indonesian tea products, whereas TBT measures show no significant effect. Therefore, the government needs to provide incentives and harmonize the national Voluntary …

As the world is more open and more integrated than ever, the trade war between the two largest economies, the United States (U.S.) and China, has significant and unexpected implications for multinational companies within global value chains. Since both markets are closed to each other due to the imposition of higher import tariffs, businesses have to shift their trade activities to alternative countries. Employing historical data, existing country-level data from the Global Trade Analysis Project on Value-Added (GTAP-VA), and tariffs imposed during the U.S.-China trade war, this study comprehensively examines the impacts of the trade war on global value chains, …
