Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Ticks, being hematophagous ectoparasites, are notorious vectors that transmit an array of pathogenic viruses, bacteria, and protozoa while simultaneously exhibiting a zoonotic potential by transmitting pathogens that affect the health of owners in contact. The distribution of ixodid ticks of the genera Rhipicephalus and Haemaphysalis spp. in tropical climate of the state contributes to many serious tick-borne parasitic and rickettsial infections in domestic and wild canines. In south India, canine babesiosis is one of the most prevalent vector-borne parasitic diseases. Detection of parasites in tick vectors has significant epidemiological implications. The present study was designed to identify the presence of …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Sheeppox is an economically important disease of small ruminants caused by the sheeppox virus (SPPV). Sheeppox virus (SPPV), goatpox virus, and lumpy skin disease virus are capripoxviruses, antigenically related but genetically distinct. Their differentiation requires analysis at a molecular level. Eleven sheeppox virus isolates from five different regions of Tunisia were collected between 2010 and 2016. SPPV was detected by real-time PCR using SYBR Green technology. Primers amplifying the entire Kelch-like gene were designed. Then the GPCR, RPO30, P32, ORF117, and Kelch-like genes were molecularly analyzed to show the different specific lineage patterns of each species. Phylogenetic analyses revealed three …

Existence And Nonexistence Of Global Solutions For Nonlinear Transmission Acoustic Problem, Akbar Aliyev, Sevda Isayeva
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we consider a mixed problem for the nonlinear wave equations with transmission acoustic conditions, that is, the wave propagation over bodies consisting of two physically different types of materials, one of which is clamped. We prove the existence of a global solution. Under the condition of positive initial energy we show that the solution for this problem blows up in finite time.
Function Mining For The $$-N$_{Ch}$ Correlations In Pp And Pp(Bar) Collisions Based On Symbolic Regression, Elsayed Eldahshan
Function Mining For The $$-N$_{Ch}$ Correlations In Pp And Pp(Bar) Collisions Based On Symbolic Regression, Elsayed Eldahshan
Turkish Journal of Physics
The investigation and analysis of the correlation between the mean transverse momentum () of charged particles and the charged particle multiplicity ($N_{ch}$) allow physicists to understand the contribution of multiple-parton interactions to the particle production mechanism. A symbolic regression (SR) method, based on gene expression programming (GEP), is proposed for mining a function that describes the -$N_{ch}$ correlation in proton-proton and proton-antiproton (pp and pp(bar)) collisions at collision energies from IRS to LHC. The discovered function simulates and models the correlation between and $N_{ch}$ in wide energy range $s^{1/2}$. In the framework of the proposed GEP model for $-N_{ch}$ correlation, …

Existence Of Solution For Some Two-Point Boundary Value Fractional Differential Equations, Kenneth Ifeanyi Isife
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Using a fixed point theorem, we establish the existence of a solution for a class of boundary value fractional differential equation. Secondly, we will adopt the method of successive approximations to obtain an approximate solution to our problem. Furthermore, using the Laplace transform technique, an explicit solution to a particular case of our problem is obtained. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate our results.

Evaluations Of Some Terminating Hypergeometric $_2f_1(2)$ Series With Applications, Yong Sup Kim, Arjunkumar Rathie, Richard B. Paris
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Explicit expressions for the hypergeometric series $_2F_1(-n, a; 2a\pm j;2)$ and $_2F_1(-n, a; -2n \pm j;2)$ for positive integer $n$ and arbitrary integer $j$ are obtained with the help of generalizations of Kummer's second and third summation theorems obtained earlier by Rakha and Rathie. Results for $ j \leq 5$ derived previously using different methods are also obtained as special cases. Two applications are considered, where the first summation formula is applied to a terminating $_3F_2(2)$ series and the confluent hypergeometric function $_1F_1(x)$.

Biostratigraphic Analysis Across The Eocene-Oligocene Boundary In The Southern Hellenic Thrace Basin (Lemnos Island, North Aegean Sea), Sofia Kostopoulou, Angelos Maravelis, Avraam Zelilidis
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The time interval of the sedimentation in the southern Hellenic Thrace Basin (Lemnos Island, northeast Aegean Sea) was studied, based on the qualitative analysis of calcareous nannoplankton and quantitative analysis of planktonic foraminifera. The samples were collected from 4 different stratigraphic sections (Ifestia, Panagia, Kaspaka, and Kaminia). The biostratigraphic analyses on both calcareous nannoplankton and planktonic foraminifera reveal an age of Late Eocene-Early Oligocene (Priabonian-Rupelian). In particular, the Eocene-Oligocene boundary is recorded at the lower part of the turbiditic system, in the Ifestia section. The present study offers the first taxonomic analysis of planktonic foraminifera of this age in the …

Geochemistry And Source Characteristics Of Dehsard Mafic Volcanic Rocks In The Southeast Of The Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran: Implications For The Evolution Of The Neo-Tethys Ocean, Mohammadali Nazemei, Mohsen Arvin, Sara Dargahi
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous Dehsard mafic volcanic rocks crop out in the southeastern Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone (SSZ), composed primarily of basalts and basaltic andesite with subordinate dolerite. They are influenced to some degree by hydrothermal alteration under zeolite-greenschist facies. Using fairly immobile trace elements, the mafic volcanic rocks show subalkaline (tholeiitic) affinities. They commonly have similar designs with somewhat strong enrichment in light rare earth elements (LREEs) and large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and depletion in high field strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Nb, Ta, Ti) and nearly flat heavy rare earth element (HREE) patterns. The negligible or absence of negative Eu …

Tetrahydronaphthalene As A Precursor Of New Series Of Chalcones, Flavanones, And Flavones, Ahmed Meddeb, Ghalia Bouhalleb, Julien Legros, Farhat Rezgui
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
An efficient synthetic route for a novel series of chalcones 2a-2d as well as for the corresponding flavanones 3a-3d and flavones 4a-4d, using functionalized tetrahydronaphthalene (THN), is described herein. The Claisen-Schmidt condensation of such THN and aromatic aldehydes, in the presence of an aqueous solution of KOH (40%), selectively gives the expected chalcones 2a-2d, which may further undergo an intramolecular oxa-Michael addition using piperidine, affording the corresponding flavanones 3a-3d in high yields. Alternatively, treatment of such chalcones 2a-2d with I$_{2}$/DMSO provides rapidly, in a one-pot oxidative cyclization, a series of flavones 4a-4d in excellent yields ranging from 85% to 90%.

A Novel Hypobromous Acid Scavenging Activity Assay Using $P$-Cresol As A Spectrofluorometric Probe, Burcu Bekdeşer, Gülüzar Zeytünlü, Mustafa Özyürek, Mustafa Reşat Apak
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
In this study, a novel spectrofluorometric assay based on $p$-cresol (4-methyl phenol) probe is developed for the measurement of HOBr scavenging activity. It is the first study involving the use of a $p$-cresol probe for the determination of the HOBr scavenging activity of biothiols. While the $p$-cresol probe ($\lambda_{ex}$ = 260 nm, $\lambda_{em}$ = 305 nm) has fluorescence characteristics, its brominated derivatives emerging at the end of the oxidation reaction with HOBr do not show fluorescence. The initial fluorescence intensity of the $p$-cresol probe is decreased in the presence of the brominating agent, HOBr, and this decrease is lower in …

Physicochemical Characterization Of Different Cellulose Polymorphs/Graphene Oxide Composites And Their Antibacterial Activity, Sherif Mohamed Abdel Salam Keshk, Ibrahim Sayed Yahia
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
In order to investigate the interaction of graphene oxide (GO) with different cellulose polymorphs (I and II), we synthesized cellulose (I and II)/GO composites using the sonication method. Interestingly, no new peaks were observed in the FT-IR pattern of the cellulose (I and II)/GO composites, indicating that no chemical reactions took place between GO and cellulose. The X-ray diffraction patterns of cellulose I and II/GO composites were slightly different than those observed for cellulose I and II, indicating that some physical interactions occurred between the GO and cellulose. Unexpectedly the $d$-spacing values and the diffraction plane at the high-angle side …
