Drought is one of the major abiotic stresses limiting the advancement of the pear industry in the arid and semiarid regions of China. Currently, the production of pear seedlings mainly depends on the grafting propagation of rootstocks from Pyrus betulaefolia Bunge and Pyrus calleryana Decne. However, limited information is available on the drought stress potential of these rootstocks. Interrow spacing of intercrop species directly affects yield and competition indices such as land equivalent ratio of intercropping. This study aims to analyze the essential physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of 25 apple commercial cultivars grown in Serbia during 2019 and 2020 in order to segregate the apples with the best size, shape, and also nutritious and health promoting values. The results showed that 'Morens Jonagore' and 'Red Boscop' had similar and the highest fruit weight (FW) whereas 'Golden Delicious', 'Hired', 'Red Chief' , and 'Morens Jonagored' had the highest and similar fruit length (L). Pithonellid calcitarchs are studied in the organic-rich limestones of the Derdere-A Member from the middle? Cenomanian deposits of SE Turkey for the first time. Little is known about the distribution of pithonellid calcitarchs in the Cretaceous strata of Turkey. Three morphogroups of pithonellid calcitarchs are distinguished: they are represented by Pithonella sphaerica (Kaufmann, 1865) and P. ovalis (Kaufmann, 1865), both dominating the pithonellid assemblages, and by Bonetocardiella conoidea (Bonet, 1956), this latter being less abundant. Background/aim: Serum and growth factor deprivation, a common cellular stressor in solid tumors, arises upon irradiation, chemotherapy, and antiangiogenesis. Spheroid body culture aims to enrich cancer stem cells by using low attachment conditions and some growth factors, such as basic fibroblast growth factor and epidermal growth factor to support the spheroid formation in serum-free spheroid culture. We have previously elucidated the role of tsRNAs and BMSC exosomes in ONFH, but whether tsRNA-modified BMSC exosomes promote angiogenesis in ONFH remains unclear. Methods: The expression of angiogenesis-related tsRNA in plasma exosomes from ONFH patients was examined by q-PCR. The function of tsRNA in HUVECs was identified by CCK-8 and angiogenesis assay. Apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) is grown across a wide geographical area and has been cultivated in Azerbaijan for more than three thousand years. The purpose of the study was to characterize the apricot varieties and forms collected from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. Fourty-four apricot varieties and forms were studied according to 10 (phenological, pomological, morphological) parameters. this study, the effects of a number of commonly used pesticides on the activity of the polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme from pesticide-free and pesticide-applied 'Jonagold' apples were comparatively evaluated. Substrates 4-methylcatechol, pyrocatechol, pyrogallol and L-tyrosine were used to determine the substrate specificity of the PPO enzyme obtained from apple. According to the results, on the contrary, PPO enzyme from 'Jonagold' apple did not show any activity against L-tyrosine substrate which is a monophenolic substrate, the enzyme had high affinity against 4-methylcatechol, pyrocatechol and pyrogallol which are di and tri phenolic substrates. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) is a plant of the family Lamiaceae. The present study aimed to determine the chemical composition of the lemon balm essential oil grown in Northeastern Bulgaria, to perform a comparative analysis of its antimicrobial activity with that of citral, and to determine its surface tension properties. The main compounds of the essential oil (concentration above 3%) were: ß-caryophyllene (20.45%), geranial (19.74%), neral (15.81%), germacrene D (11.50%), (R)-(+)-citronellal (3.07%), and geranyl acetate (3.04%). Open-pit coal mining causes land and soil degradation and negatively affects soil properties. It is of great importance to determine variabilities in soil properties of the abandoned area after the mine is closed and to bring it back to nature by implementing appropriate rehabilitation programs. In this study, the effect of spermidine (SP) treatments at different doses after harvest on the changes in the pomological and biochemical contents of nectarine fruits was determined. The fruits were placed in cold storage (4 ± 0.5 °C and 90 ± 5% RH) for 30 days. Specific organic acids and phenolic compounds from biochemical compounds were analyzed by HPLC device. Weight loss and decay values, which are quality criteria of nectarine fruits, increased during storage compared to the harvest period. In the present study, the antihypertensive, antidiabetic, and antioxidant properties of oak peptides were determined in vitro. For this purpose, samples from most common oak species (Quercus coccifera, Quercus ilex, and Quercus cerris) were collected, the proteins were extracted and the bioactive properties of 48 different peptide fractions were monitored using a fast protein liquid chromatography. The results showed that acorn peptides had no remarkable antioxidant or antihypertensive effects. Comparing the bioactive peptides of all oak species, the peptides of Q. coccifera generally had higher DPP-IV inhibition activity than those of Q. cerris and Q. ilex. …

The present investigation was done to evaluate genetic variability and estimation of genetic parameters of morphological and agro-physiological traits in Camelina sativa (L.) using biometrical genetic techniques. For this purpose, 136 Camelina doubled haploid line genotypes were assessed in a randomized complete blocks design with three replicates in the Field Research, Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran, during the 2014-2015 cropping season. Determination Of Some Quality Properties And Antimicrobial Activities Of Kombucha Tea Prepared With Different Berries, Oktay Tomar

Kombucha is a slightly sweet, acidic, carbonated, fermented beverage obtained by fermenting sugared tea (Camellia sinesis) with symbiotic bacteria. In the present study, kombucha was produced from black tea (Camellia sinensis), black grape (Vitis labrusca), black mulberry (Morus nigra), and rosehip (Rosa canina) fruits. Its physicochemical, microbiological, sensory properties and antimicrobial effects were investigated. During the fermentation, pH, Brix (%), viscosity, total antioxidant, and phenolic substance values decreased (p < 0.05). Total aerobic mesophilic bacteria (TAMB) and yeast/mold, Lactococcus/Streptococcus counts decreased, while the osmophilic yeast, acetic acid, and lactic acid bacterial counts increased (p < 0.05). The present work aimed to investigate inclusion complexes of squalene with various cyclodextrins (native ß-cyclodextrin and methyl-ß-cyclodextrin). The production of squalene-ß-cyclodextrin inclusion complex was obtained using Response Surface Methodology and obtained inclusion complexes were studied with FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, thermal analysis, and 1H-NMR spectrometry. At the same time, squalene content was determined by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. All results confirmed that squalene was successfully involved in the cyclodextrin cavities. Optimizing the condition in preparation for the squalen-ß-cyclodextrin inclusion complex yielded 54.3% with squalene content of 9.01%. : The lichens serve as an ecological niche for a group of unexplored fungal species residing inside their thallus without causing any noticeable symptoms and such fungi are termed as endolichenic fungi. The objective of the current study is to check the endolichenic fungal diversity within lichen genus Parmotrema. The study resulted in a total of 450 endolichenic fungi (ELF) isolates from 15 species of Parmotrema. Out of these, 73 sporulating isolates were identified using ITS sequences which resulted in 47 species under 23 genera. This study compared qualitative and quantitative features of native cattle and buffalo ovaries and oocytes to understand them comprehensively. Mokko lactone (ML) belongs to the guaianolide family of sesquiterpenes, which has been separated from C. speciosus. It showed noticeable antiinflammation and antioxidative capacities. The purpose of this work was to conduct a comparative metabolomic study of extracts of Triticosecale cultivar "Bilinda" seeds harvested at different stages of maturation.
