An Investigation Of Temperature Effect On Phonon Dispersion Spectra Of Ni By Molecular Dynamics Simulation, Sefa Kazanç, Soner Özgen
An Investigation Of Temperature Effect On Phonon Dispersion Spectra Of Ni By Molecular Dynamics Simulation, Sefa Kazanç, Soner Özgen
Turkish Journal of Physics
Lattice vibrations have great influences on physical and mechanical properties of materials. In this study, changes of acoustic phonon frequencies of Ni model system with temperature was investigated by Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulation for [100], [110] and [111] high symmetry directions of the Brillouin zone. To model the interactions between atoms, Sutton-Chen type of Embedded Atom Method (SCEAM) based on many-body interactions were used. The obtained results show that the increase of temperature causes a decrease in longitudinal and transverse acoustic phonon frequencies because of thermal expansion.

[(PbO)_{0.20-x} . (Bi_2O_3)_{0.40} . (B_2O_3)_{0.40}]: (TiO_2)_x, 0.0 =< x =< 0.02 glasses were prepared. Dielectric properties (dielectric constant \varepsilon \prime, loss tan \delta and a.c. conductivity \sigma_{ac}, over a wide range of frequency and temperature), optical absorption, ESR and IR spectra of these glass materials have been investigated. The dielectric study has revealed that the glasses possess high insulating strength when TiO_2 concentration is >0.8 mol% in the glass matrix. The optical absorption spectra of these glasses exhibited bands due to Ti^{3+} ions in the visible region. ESR spectral studies have also indicated that a fraction of Ti^{4+} ions reduced to Ti^{3+} ions. IR spectra of these glasses exhibited bands due to TiO_4 and TiO_6 structural units. Quantitative studies indicate that as concentration of TiO_2 is increased to 0.8 mol% in the glass matrix, a large proportion of titanium ions exist in Ti^{3+} state and has influenced the physical properties of these glasses to a substantial …

The Evolution Of Travertine Masses In The Sivas Area (Central Turkey) And Their Relationships To Active Tectonics, Levent Mesci̇, Hali̇l Gürsoy, Orhan Tatar
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
Sıcak Çermik, Delikkaya and Sarıkaya are important travertine fields with active hot springs located 31 km west of Sivas. Based on their morphology, most of the travertines are classified as fissure-ridge travertines. Eroded sheet-type, terraced, and self-built channel types of travertine are also present at a few locations. Faults and fissures formed in the underlying İncesu Formation, and fissures developing in the fissure-ridge travertines are linked to one another. Tectonic deformation forming the fissure-ridge travertines resulted from NE-SW extension associated with a NW-SE compressional regime related to the Central Anatolian Thrust Belt and Sivas Backthrust. U/Th series age dating results …

Petrogenesis Of The Kösedağ Pluton, Suşehri-Ne Sivas, East-Central Pontides, Turkey, Durmuş Boztuğ
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The Kösedağ syenite crops out as a shallow-seated pluton within the Eocene volcano-sedimentary rocks and is unconformably overlain by Lower Miocene limestones in the Suşehri-NE Sivas region, east-central Pontides. It consists of syenites and quartz syenites with a phaneritic, porphyritic texture characterized by K-feldspar megacrysts set in a coarse- to medium-grained groundmass comprising K-feldspar, plagioclase, clinopyroxene, amphibole, biotite and quartz. Major element geochemistry data reveal a high-K, alkaline, metaluminous to slightly peraluminous character, with a low Aluminum Saturation Index (ASI) value. The main solidification process, which modified the composition of magma during crystallization, was fractional crystallization, in which syenites solidified …

Platinum-Group Minerals (Pgm) And Other Solid Inclusions In The Elbistan-Kahramanmaraş Mantle-Hosted Ophiolitic Chromitites, South-Eastern Turkey: Their Petrogenetic Significance, İbrahi̇m Uysal
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The Elbistan-Kahramanmaraş podiform ophiolitic chromitites, in southeastern Turkey, contain abundant primary inclusions of platinum-group minerals (PGM), base-metals sulphides (BMS) and silicates. These inclusions are very small, generally less than 15 microns in size, and mostly occur in chromian spinel. The following PGM have been recognized: laurite, iridium, irarsite, ruarsite and several unidentified PGE phases. Millerite, pentlandite, bornite, digenite, chalcopyrite and betekhtinite are the BMS that have been identified. Mg-rich hornblende, accompanied by rare olivine, clinopyroxene and phlogopite, are the most abundant silicate inclusions. Most of the PGM, BMS and silicate inclusions are considered primary, i.e. formed during the high temperature …

Radical Anti-Invariant Lightlike Submanifolds Of Semi-Riemannian Product Manifolds, Erol Kiliç, Bayram Şahi̇n
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We introduce radical anti-invariant lightlike submanifolds of a semi Riemannian product manifold and give examples. After we obtain the conditions of integrability of distributions which are involved in the definition of radical anti-invariant lightlike submanifolds, we investigate the geometry of leaves of distributions. We also obtain the induced connection is a metric connection and a radical anti-invariant lightlike submanifold is a product manifold under certain conditions. Finally, we study totally umbilical radical anti-invariant lightlike submanifolds and observe that they are totally geodesic under a condition.

Detailed Geochemistry And K-Ar Geochronology Of The Metamorphic Sole Rocks And Their Mafic Dykes From The Mersin Ophiolite, Southern Turkey, Ömer Faruk Çeli̇k
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The metamorphic sole rocks at the base of mantle peridotites from the Mersin ophiolite consist of amphibolites and metasedimentary lithologies. Mineral parageneses in the metamorphic sole rocks exhibit amphibolite and greenschist facies assemblages. Geothermobarometric studies based on mineral assemblages and chemical compositions of minerals indicate that average metamorphic temperature during the metamorphism was 522 ± 15 °C and the pressure was less than 5 kb. Amphibolites from the metamorphic sole rocks exhibit geochemical characteristics of a supra-subduction zone (SSZ) type ophiolite, based on their major, trace and rare earth element (REE) compositions. The Th/Nb ratios of the amphibolites are higher …

High Field Conduction In Thin Films Of A-(Ge_{.20}{Se0}_{.80})_{1-X}{Pb}_X Glassy Alloys, Rachna Singh, Santosh Kumar
Turkish Journal of Physics
The present paper reports d.c. conductivity measurements at high electric fields in vacuum evaporated amorphous thin films of (Ge_{.20}Se0_{.80})_{1-x}Pb_x (where x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.10) glassy alloys. Current-Voltage (I-V) Characteristics have been measured at various fixed temperatures. In these samples, at low electric fields, ohmic behavior is observed. However, at high electric fields (E \sim 10^4 V/cm), non-ohmic behavior is observed. An analysis of the experimental data confirms the presence of space charge limited conduction (SCLC) in the glassy materials studied in the present case. From the fitting of the data to the theory of SCLC, the …

Electric Dipole Oscillator Strengths Of Boron, Gökhan Tekeli̇, Şule Ateş, Gülteki̇n Çeli̇k
Turkish Journal of Physics
Electric dipole oscillator strengths for both individual and multiplet lines between some excited levels of atomic boron are calculated using the Weakest Bound Electron Potential Model Theory (WBEPMT). The Numerical Coulomb Approximation wave functions for expectation values of radii in all states and experimental ionization energies have been employed to determinate the parameters. The obtained results from this work agree very well with the accepted values taken from NIST, Multi-Configurational Hartree-Fock (MCHF) results and atomic line data.

Pattern Synthesis With Uniform Circular Arrays For The Reduction Of Wcdma Intercell Interference, Mohammed Al-Husseini, Elias Yaacoub, Karim Y. Kabalan, Ali El-Hajj
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
The deployment of advanced antenna arrays at the base stations of cellular systems is a key technique in reducing intercell interference, and thus increasing the number of served users. Uniform circular arrays (UCAs) provide 360 degrees of coverage, their patterns are steering-invariant and their sidelobe levels are controllable. This paper investigates the use of UCAs having specially synthesized patterns at the base stations of WCDMA cellular systems. The decrease in the ratio of intercell interference to intracell power resulting from the use of these arrays in a beam-steering scheme will be assessed, and the advantages and disadvantages of each pattern …

Distance Relaying Algorithm For Double-Circuit Transmission Line With Compensation For Reactance Effect Under Standard Availability Of Measurements, Jan Izykowski, Marcin Bozek
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
This paper deals with non-pilot distance protection of a double-circuit transmission line. Negative impact of the reactance effect, appearing in measuring a fault loop impedance, on operation of the relay is discussed. An adaptive algorithm allowing one to prevent the relay from mis- or mal-operation caused by the reactance effect is introduced. The algorithm is designed for a standard availability of measurements from one end of the double-circuit line, i.e. when three-phase voltage and current from the faulted line circuit, and additionally zero-sequence current from the healthy line circuit, are provided as the relay input signals. The algorithm is based …
