Efficacy Of Moxidectin Against Strongylin Nematodes In Naturally Infected Horses, Aynur Gülanber, Erkut Tüzer, Ayşen Gargili, Müfit Toparlak, İlker Efi̇l, Vedat Keleş, Meltem Ulutaş
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Twenty naturally infected horses were divided into two groups (10 control and 10 experimental) according to EPG values. An injectable formulation of moxidectin, in a dose of 0.3 mg/kg, was given to the horses orally in jam syrup. The evaluation of drug efficacy was based on EPG values. The same dose of the drug was applied to an additional 25 horses to test for side effects. The drug was found to be highly effective (100%) against strongylin parasites on days 7, 14. and 21. No side effects were observed.
Prediction Of Dry Matter Intake And Live Weight Gain In Lambs By Somecharacteristics Of Roughages, Adnan Sehu, Sakine Yalçin, Ahmet G. Önol, Durali Koçak
Prediction Of Dry Matter Intake And Live Weight Gain In Lambs By Somecharacteristics Of Roughages, Adnan Sehu, Sakine Yalçin, Ahmet G. Önol, Durali Koçak
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was carried out to evaluate the regression equations for predicting the dry matter intake and digestible dry matter intake of roughages and live weight gain from roughages in lambs. For this purpose, rumen degradability characteristics of some roughages according to the equation of p=a+b(1-e -ct ), rumen dry matter degradability in different periods of time, ADF-NDF contents and digestibility of dry matter were used as independent characteristics. Roughages consisted of straws of wheat, rice, barley, oat, chickpea, vetch and lentil and oat hay. The roughage intake and growth rate were predicted in separate 2 periods by using totally …
The Effect Of Formaldehyde And Blood Treatments Of Sunflower Meal On The Degradationcharacteristics And Effective Degradability In Rumen, Sakine Yalçin, Adnan Sehu, Fatma Karakaş
The Effect Of Formaldehyde And Blood Treatments Of Sunflower Meal On The Degradationcharacteristics And Effective Degradability In Rumen, Sakine Yalçin, Adnan Sehu, Fatma Karakaş
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of formaldehyde and blood treatments of sunflower meal on the degra-dation characteristics and effective degradability of dry matter(DM), organic matter and crude protein. Sunflower meal treated with 0.8 g formaldehyde/100 g crude protein, 0.5, 0.75, 1.5 and 2 L whole blood/kg DM. Three adult rumen fistulated merino rams were used in this study. Samples were incubated in the rumen for 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 48 and 60 h. Formaldehyde treatment of sunflower meal reduced the amount of rapidly soluble protein, degradation rate constant and effective degradability of protein by 75.36, …
Body And Nutritional Composition Of Tilapia (Tilapia Ssp.) From The Southern Seyhan River, Suat Di̇kel, Mehmet Çeli̇k
Body And Nutritional Composition Of Tilapia (Tilapia Ssp.) From The Southern Seyhan River, Suat Di̇kel, Mehmet Çeli̇k
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Nutritional composition and edible part of carcass of tilapia caught from the Southern Seyhan River were investigated in this study. The results showed that edible part of carcass of male and female tilapia were 52.8±1.34% and 51.4±0.57%, respec-tively. Dry matter of carcass was 21.8±0.08% whereas water content was 78.2±0.08%. Crude protein, crude fat and crude ash were2.66±0.75%, 12.16±0.74% and 5.18±0.02%, respectively.
Estimates Of Genetic And Phenotypic Parameters For Birth Weight In Brown And Simmentalcalves Raised At Altindere State Farm, Ali Kaygisiz
Estimates Of Genetic And Phenotypic Parameters For Birth Weight In Brown And Simmentalcalves Raised At Altindere State Farm, Ali Kaygisiz
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The purpose of this study is to estimate genetic and phenotypic parameters for birth weight in Brown and Simmental calves raised at Altindere State Farm in Van. The least squares means of birth weight for Brown and Simmental calves were 40.13±0.41 and 40.04±0.27 kg, respectively. The effect of year and sex on birth weight were highly significant (P

The Natural And Industrial Fluorosis In The Middle Anatolia Andits Effects On Animal Health, Ulvi Reha Fi̇danci, Berrin Salmanoğlu, Saban Maraşli, Nalan Maraşli
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The aim of this investigation was to investigate the distribution and the degree of the natural fluorosis in the rich with fluoride reserves areas of the Middle Anatolia and the industrial fluorosis in area of the various factory in the same areas and its effects on animal health. The urine, water, plant and soil samples were collected from the area rich with fluoride reserves and the area of the various facto-ry in the Middle Anatolia. Fluoride ion concentrations in the water, urine, soil and plant samples were detected potentiometrically using an ion selective electrode. Fluoride contents of the water, soil …

Antifungal Natural Products From Medicinal Plants Of Pakistan, Atta Rahman, M. I. Choudhary
Antifungal Natural Products From Medicinal Plants Of Pakistan, Atta Rahman, M. I. Choudhary
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
A number of diseases in humans, animals, insects and plants are caused by pathogenic fungi. Several fungi also produce toxins in foods and can cause poisoning. Antifungal compounds are therefore important both for controlling serious fungal diseases of animals and plants, and for preserving food and other organic materials against attack by fungi. Our work on antifungal phytochemicals of medicinal plants has resulted in the isolation of a number of interesting compounds. The agar diffusion method was used to determine the antifungal activity of the pure isolates and extracts against a number of highly pathogenic fungi. The structures of the …
