Turkish Journal of Zoology
The histochemical and ultrastructural effects of cadmium (Cd) on the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles of male mice were investigated. Two doses of Cd (0.1 and 1.0 x 10^{-4} M) were injected into the mice. The animals were killed at the end of 48 h and their EDL muscles excised. Three types of fibers (I, IIA and IIB) were described by the succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) method in the control groups. The mitochondrial and sarcotubular contents of the fibers were different. The histochemical and ultrastructural characteristics of the EDL muscles in mice given Cd did not differ from those of the …

New Complexes Of Organotin(Iv) 2-(N-Maleoylamino)-2-Methylpropanoate: Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization And Biological Activity, Sajjad Ahmad, Saqib Ali, Saira Shahzadi, Fiaz Ahmed, Khalid Mohammed Khan
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Organotin(IV) complexes of 2-(N-maleoylamino)-2-methylpropanoate were prepared by treating the ligand acid with diorganotin dichloride and triorganotin chloride in 1:2 and 1:1 molar ratios, respectively. These reactions proceeded smoothly to completion and the complexes formed were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, multinuclear NMR (^1H, ^{13}C, ^{119}Sn) and mass spectrometry. The biological activities of the tin complexes were studied by screening the compounds against various animal and plant pathogens. These results show that triorganotin(IV) carboxylates are more active against the animal and plant pathogens tested as compared to diorganotin dicarboxylates.

Investigation Of Electron Transfer Reaction Between Diphenylbenzidine And Ascorbic Acid, Iftikhar Imam Naqvi, Abida Perveen
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The kinetics of the reduction of diphenylbenzidine by ascorbic acid were investigated in the pH range 3.5 to 5.0. Diphenylbenzidine was prepared by the oxidation of diphenylamine with cerium(IV) sulfate tetra hydrate. The order of the reaction with respect to each of the reactants, i.e ascorbic acid (ASC), diphenylbenzidine (DPB) and H^+ ,was found to be first. The following rate law is recommended: Rate = {k_1 [C_{12}H_{10}N_2C_{12}H_{10}] + k_2K [C_{12}H_{10}N_2C_{12}H_{10}][H^+]}[C_6H_8O_6] where k_1 and k_2 have the values of 2.0 \times 10^4 dm^3mol^{-1} s^{-1} and 6.58 \times 10^3 dm^3.mol^{-1}.s^{-1} , respectively. K is the protonation constant of DPB, having a value …
The High Mountain Vegetation Of Turkey - A State Of The Art Report, Including A First Annotated Conspectus Of The Major Syntaxa, Gerald Parolly
The High Mountain Vegetation Of Turkey - A State Of The Art Report, Including A First Annotated Conspectus Of The Major Syntaxa, Gerald Parolly
Turkish Journal of Botany
This contribution spotlights the present research on the (oreal) subalpine to subnival mountain vegetation of Turkey. It concisely compiles our present knowledge, which is very heterogeneous in geographical terms. The situation is comparatively good in NW and W Anatolia and the western half of the Taurus range, from where a first consolidation stage can be reported. By contrast, the E Taurus remains a largely unexplored area. The Pontic chains have hitherto attracted a few local researchers only, and those important pioneering accounts cover less than half of the vegetation types actually present. The results of the last years' field work …
