The stemless carline thistle (Carlina acaulis subsp. caulescens) is a plant species commonly found at lower altitudes in the Central European mountains. Although it is still relatively frequent in the area, there has been a decrease in its numbers in the last decades. This research aims to determine the impact of the management of mountain mesic meadows and habitat factors on the morphometric variability of C. acaulis and species composition patterns of accompanying vegetation. Türkiye has a rich diversity of medicinal flora, and patients have a choice of ethnomedicines to manage various dermatology problems. The current study targeted to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of medicinal plant taxa used in folk medicine in Trabzon. Due to its historical significance, diversity of plant species, and hosting a wide range of cultures, the Turkish city of Trabzon has significant ethnobotanical potential. Ethnobotanical data including family name, scientific name, local name, used parts, therapeutic uses, preparation methods, administration routes, and cited locations were gathered by face-to-face interviews with 645 participants mostly over 50 years old. his study examined the effect of biochar application to the soil at different times on the phytochemical composition (phenolic compounds, carotenoids, vitamin C, sugars, proteins, MDA, and antioxidant activity) and expression of HCT, F3’H and CHS genes (which are involved in the accumulation of phenolic compounds) in cabbage kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala). Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) is a cross-pollinated crop with significant genetic variation in planting materials derived from seeds. Vegetative propagation through grafting is a valuable strategy to achieve genetically identical characteristics in progeny. This study investigates the influence of rootstock age and hormone (gibberellin) treatments on the grafting union and survival rate of top clove grafting under greenhouse conditions. In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between β carbonic anhydrase (βCA) gene expression levels and drought stress severity. For this purpose, the expression levels of six βCA genes in the roots and leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana were investigated under mild, moderate, and severe drought conditions. In addition, changes in the biomass, leaf water content, photosynthetic efficiency, CA enzyme activity, free proline content, and lipid peroxidation were also determined. Dynamical Complexity Of A Predator-Prey Model With A Prey Refuge And Allee Effect, Jianping Gao, Jianghong Zhang, Wenyan Lian

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We consider a predator-prey model with a non-monotonic functional response encompassing a prey refuge and a strong Allee effect on the prey. The multiple existence and stability of interior equilibria are investigated. The bifurcation analysis shows this model can exhibit numerous kinds of bifurcations (e.g., saddle-node, Hopf-Andronov and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations). It is found that there exist diverse parameter values for which the model exhibits a limit cycle, a homoclinic orbit, and even many heteroclinic curves. Some biological characteristics and life table of Mulberry scale [Pseudaulacaspis pentagona Targioni-Tozzetti (Hemiptera: Diaspididae)], which is an important thermophilic, invasive, and polyphagous pest of fruit trees, was investigated. The research has been conducted at 7 different temperatures (20.6, 23.2, 27.1, 29.0, 30.6, 31.3, 33.8 °C) on two different mulberry species (Morus alba and M. nigra) in the climate chambers with fixed illumination regime (16 : 8 h) and relative humidity (60% ± 5%) conditions. The shell of a freshwater mussel (Mollusca: Bivalvia) is a composite biological material that plays an active role in maintaining ecosystem services. Mussel shells have variable structures both within and between species. In this study, the structural and biological characteristics of the shells of Potomida semirugata and Leguminaia wheatleyi were investigated in order to use freshwater mussel shells as a biological material. The aim of this study was to compare the speed of movement of 3 species of ants (Formica rufa, F. polyctena, and Lasius fuliginosus) along trails with different types of substrates. Herewith, the current status of the inland waters ichthyofauna of Türkiye is revised, and an updated checklist of the freshwater lampreys and fishes is presented. As of November 2023, the freshwater ichthyofauna of Türkiye is known to consist of 427 species belonging to 20 orders, 37 families, and 97 genera. Among these, 21 species (4.9%) are alien, and 215 species (50.4%) are considered endemic to Türkiye. This study presents the synthesis of some metal {M = Zn(II), Lu(III), Si(IV)} phthalocyanines bearing chlorine and 2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl) ethoxy groups at peripheral or axial positions. The newly synthesized metal phthalocyanines were characterized by applying FT-IR, 1 H NMR, mass, and UV-Vis spectroscopic approaches. Additionally, the surface of gold nanoparticles was modified with zinc(II) and silicon(IV) phthalocyanines. The resultant nanoconjugates were characterized using TEM images. We demonstrate in this work the practical use of uniform mixtures of a bioresin shellac and four natural clays, i.e. montmorillonite, sepiolite, halloysite and vermiculate as dielectrics in organic field effect transistors (OFETs). We present a thorough characterization of their processability and film forming characteristic, surface characterization, elaborate dielectric investigation and the fabrication of field effect transistors with two classic organic semiconductors, i.e. pentacene and fullerene C60. We show that low operating voltage of approximately 4 V is possible for all the OFETs using several combinations of clays and shellac. Background/aim: Propofol is a positive allosteric modulator of GABAA receptor (GABAAR) and has potent antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of propofol on damage to the cerebral cortex and hippocampus in a lithium chloride (LiCl)- pilocarpine animal model of status epilepticus (SE). Background/aim: Cupressus sempervirens is a tree native to the Mediterranean region. We aimed to investigate the frequency of sensitization/allergy to Cupressus arizonica pollen, which is not native to Anatolia. Materials and methods: Patients aged 5?18 years who underwent respiratory allergy screening in Türkiye?s largest referral center over a 1-year period were reviewed retrospectively for a diagnostic study of Cupressus allergy. Background/aim: T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a form of leukemia characterized by the proliferation of immature T lymphocytes. NOTCH1 is one of the most frequently mutated genes in T-ALL. NOTCH1 expression in T-cell development depends on plant homeodomain finger protein 6 (PHF6), which plays a tumor suppressor role in T-ALL. Several studies have shown that PHF6 expression is essential for NOTCH1 expression.
