Translational Research At The Bedside - Testing Psychometrics Nausea And Vomiting Scales, Angela P. Halpin

Biennial Convention (CONV)

Problem: Community hospital data collection requires participation of RNs at the bedside. Formal education is essential. RNs learn the purpose of study, data tools instruction, with due diligence and oversight by the principal investigator (PI). When nurses have involvement as participants in data collection, they are witnesses of the benefits for bedside research applications.

Evidence: Satisfaction with tools is measured by RNs using scales. Construct validity is determined by results of two nurses scores on worksheets. Success of research is determined by the nurse's ratings, Kappa ranged from .851 to 1.00 and the percentages of agreement ranged from 91.9 to …

Dnp Scholarship: Developing The Genre Of Knowledge Translationâ And Dissemination, Mary F. Terhaar, Julie A. Stanik-Hutt

Biennial Convention (CONV)

Influencial authors lead the science and practice of nursing, yet curricula from baccalaureate through doctorate provide little instruction about the craft of writing. As a result, faculty and advisors shoulder the burden of teaching writing absent a standard derived of evidence. Students write and re-write papers without clear understanding of expectations; save conformity to APA format. Faculty correct and edit documents in which facts and argument are obscured by syntactical and grammatical error. Journals need to provide significant writing support late in the process of knowledge dissemination. The process is inefficient and does not achieve quality. Assuming the profession values …
