Advanced Tcad Simulation And Calibration Of Gallium Oxide Vertical Transistor, Hiu Yung Wong, Armand C. Fossito Tenkeu
Advanced Tcad Simulation And Calibration Of Gallium Oxide Vertical Transistor, Hiu Yung Wong, Armand C. Fossito Tenkeu
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
In this paper, advanced β-Ga2O3 TCAD simulation parameters and methodologies are presented by calibrating simulation setup to vertical junctionless multi-gate transistor experimental data. Through careful calibration, several important β-Ga2O3 device physics are identified. The effects of compensation doping and incomplete ionization of dopants are investigated. Electron Philips unified carrier mobility (PhuMob) model, which can capture the temperature effect, is used. We also show that interfacial traps possibly play no role on the non-ideal sub-threshold slope (SS) and short channel effect is the major cause of SS degradation. The breakdown mechanism of the junctionless Ga2O3 transistor is also discussed and is …

Quantum Control With Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates, Hilary M. Hurst
Quantum Control With Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates, Hilary M. Hurst
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Understanding and controlling many-body quantum systems in noisy environments is paramount to developing robust quantum technologies. An external environment can be thought of as a measurement reservoir which extracts information about the quantum system. Cold atoms are well suited to examine system-environment interaction via weak (i.e. minimally destructive) measurement techniques, wherein the measurement probe acts as the environment and also provides a noisy record of system dynamics. The measurement record can then be used in a feedback scheme, opening the door to real time control of quantum gases. In this talk I discuss our theoretical proposal to use weak measurement …

An Investigation Of Word Learning In The Presence Of Gaze: Evidence From School-Age Children With Typical Development Or Autism Spectrum Disorder, Janet Y. Bang, Aparna S. Nadig
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Little is understood about how children attend to and learn from gaze when learning new words, and whether gaze confers any benefits beyond word mapping. We examine whether 6- to 11-year-old typically-developing children (n = 43) and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (n = 25) attend to and learn with gaze differently from another directional cue, an arrow cue. An eye-tracker recorded children’s attention to videos while they were taught novel words with a gaze cue or an arrow cue. Videos included objects when they were static or when they were manipulated to demonstrate the object’s function. Word learning was …
